Sprint Online Advanced Exchange - Decommissioned

well, i was attempting to make a claim on my wife's blackberry today and found this:
https://indirect3.sprint.com/apps/ad...&FROM_SPRINT=Y

Dear Valued Sprint Customer:

Thank you for your interest in Sprint's Self-Service Phone Replacement web tool. The web tool was decommissioned on December 11, 2009. Your phone repair needs can now be met through one of the following methods:

  • All customers can visit a Phone Repair Center to have their handset diagnosed and solution provided. To locate the nearest Sprint Phone Repair Center visit Sprint.com

should have done it yesterday, i guess

Re: Sprint Online Advanced Exchange - Decommissioned

i try to help people, but SPRINT gives us a limit as to how many exchanges we can do a month. when people come in to abuse the system, and make up stories about how their phone is "broken", it ruins it for people that actually do have a problem. alot of times, people want exchanges because they have a scratch on their new expensive phone. if there is a noticeable issue, there should be no reason why it doesnt get fixed or exchanged.

plus, customer service doesnt help the stores one bit. they like to give out false information to customers just to get them off of the phone. they say things like "go to the store, and they can switch you out right away no matter what for free." or they say " go to the store, and they will switch you to a different model with no problems." unfortunately, as an indirect service center, we can't do this. if they notate the account, you can go into a CORPORATE location, and sometimes they can help you with it. on top of that nonsense, sprint has closed 60-70% of the corporate locations nationwide.

sure a lot of the techs are jerks about stuff, and im sorry about that, but a lot of it is from issues i have already stated. we have sprint constantly breathing down our necks, threatening to close down the store because we have too many exchanges. then to top it off, they have the refurbishing depot go over the returned phones, and if they dont find an issue that meets their standards, they yell at us.

I agree with the above post I think it is taken advantage of big time. I see so many people on this site and others that have returned there phones many times just because it has a scratch or something small like that and say there is some other issue just to get a new phone. These are the same type of people that will sue anyone and everyone just becasue they looked at them. The ambulance chasers. With over 12 years with Sprint I have only used the insurance twice. Just my rant.

I have to agree... I replaced 2 TP's with the online tool... both with non-working keyboards. While I knew that I could have gotten them replaced for me by going to a store or making an annoying phone call I thought it was really easy to replace it that way. Of course the whole time I was thinking how easy it would be to get a phone replaced even if there wasn't a problem. I guess they could always go back and charge the $75 for non-broken phones, but then it would cause a lot of complaints.

I do have to give Sprint credit for trying this... and blame those that abused it for making them take it away.

That is too bad that it isn't available anymore for those who live a distance from the service centers. But unfortunately I agree that the system was abused and when that happens things always change.

i belive this is concidered a handicap and you can call sprint and talk to them. tell them your problem and they will check for sprint stores. once they see your really far from one i think they will send you a replacement. but your phone better have a real problem and no physical damage or they will charge you.
i think that is what happens. correct me if im wrong.

Re: Sprint Online Advanced Exchange - Decommissioned

i seen a ton of people come with online AE phones they want activated, and when i asked what was wrong with the old one they say, "o nothing i wanted a new one" or "it had a scratch". so thanks to idiots like that you guys who are far away from a sprint service and repair are hassled. but like homamk said, tell them whats up, and they should help you. if they dont help ya, hang up and call again.

indirect stores can NOT give you a different model with out it coming out of their pockets, and corporate stores can if you qualify for a WEL list violation like mutiple exchanges or know issues with your current phone. if customer care notes the account they should be able to also depending if they have the phone in stock at the time.

What sucks is all the Sprint stores I go to in Atlanta all suck...lol They always messed up any transaction with any phone, even had a manager call me a liar! I have 6 lines and to be called a liar was extremely out of line.

The only problem I have with the repair stores is they don't have any phones in stock from what I've seen. I'm tired of going all the way out there for them to look at my phone for 3 minutes to tell me the same thing I already know that I need a replacement. Oh but we don't have any so we'll call you in two days so you can come all the way back again.

Re: Sprint Online Advanced Exchange - Decommissioned

I called Friday because of a broken keyboard and they offered me a Pre, Treo, BB, Snap, or Some other crap. I told them I have a Pro and need to get one like it and they offered the TP2.

After 10 minutes I was told the TP2 is not available for 2 months. I went online and saw that the TP2 was available for immediate shipment so I called back and asked about getting one now. I was told that and AE was done and that system was decommissioned so I am not getting a phone. Eventually I was told I will get one when the get stock.

I went to a store and they saw the note and said I can come back and get one there when they have stock.

Re: Sprint Online Advanced Exchange - Decommissioned

I have always pondered why Sprint Repair Centers don't have replacement phones in stock. I used to be with Verizon and they always have phone in stock for replacements. I went through a huge ordeal with Sprint on how there way of thinking sucks. I don't have time to wait for a replacement phone to show up at my door, and it cost more to send it to me that to have a huge shipment sent to the stores. I have never like replacement phones, they tend to be in worse shape (Physically) than the phone that I was about to turn in to them. For example I had a Touch Pro Advanced Exchanged to me, got it and took the plastic protection stuff off the screen to find a 2-3inch piece of tape going from half the screen to the middle button down by the call/end buttons..also the slider was grindy and rough to open. I instantly sent it back and called up Sprint and told them about it. Luckly a few weeks later I went into the store and talked to the guy I bought my phones from and he somehow upgrade me to the Touch Pro 2 without any cost...and to my suprise...It was a brand new in the box phone, not a refurbished unit. I understand some people take atvantage of this option, and sadly Sprint took it away...but what I would like to see out of it is Sprint sending phones to the Retail locations so us sprint users don't have to spend our time waiting for a phone...if Verizon can do it, so can they. And to add to this post...The Touch Pro was a horrible phone...and I'm guessing most of the replacements people were doing was on that phone...

Sad to see this handy feature being shut down. Cant help to wonder how much impact all the scammers out there had on Sprints decision to end this service.

Wow, this really sucks. And I agree with the Sprint Stores being pretty worthless, in that replacement phones are never in stock & having to drive there TWICE is nuts.

I totally agree with you, all of the Metro-Atlanta stores suck!
