[CAB] HTC Hero/Leo Manila Background for TP2 - Fully working weather animations

After some playing around with Photoshop I was able create a custom DEFAULT manila background using the wallpaper above. This is not a custom wallpaper (like chosen from wallpaper settings in TF3D) but a replacement of the OEM manila background files on your phone. This cab is fully uninstallable if you ever want to change back! Includes portrait and landscape background files. Tested on WM 6.5 Sense 2.1 Manila and should be fully compatible with stock Manila 2.1 on WM 6.1 as well.

I created this to fix the slow responsiveness of the home screen weather animations. [Weather animations, especially rain will have notable lag (windshield wiper movement/clearing the dirty water image) when using wallpapers other than the default]

I had that WP working a long time ago with HDwalls & all the animations worked.

With HDwalls you can use any WP you want & it won't affect the weather animations.

It's not that the animations will not work...But they will be slow and laggy. When using a custom wallpaper and viewing a home screen weather animation such as rain, the clock has a noted delay in flipping as well as clearing the "dirty water" background and also a HUGE delay in the windshield wiper. Since this was not the case when using the default wallpaper, I created a new default so things would be snappy.

I still don't see anything, guess it is blocked.

I never understood HDWalls, I tried, just couldn't get it. I just use APs cab. I can use any BG and still get full animations. That + TF3D WP changer = awesomeness

On your stock rom or custom rom, go to your settings page...and select Wallpaper. If you have a custom wallpaper selected, it will prompt you and ask if you want to use the default wallpaper for the phone. [This is the wallpaper written into the manila files in the Windows directory] This cab will overwrite those files with this new background making this your new default background.

I am not sure if that may have something to do with the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 platform or if you are using Sense 2.5?

I am currently running Mr.X ROM 1.6./ Sense 2.1/WM 6.5

Not true, as long as you use HDwalls. That app turns whatever WP you select into the default WP & does not slow the animations whatever.

My rain animation/wiper clears the home screen in exactly the same amount of time using an HDwalls WP as it does before I change anything.

I'm not being critical of you at all, I commend you for sharing your stuff (& it looks real nice)

It took me forever to figure out this HDwalls stuff myself, I had tried all the BG4all cabs & every single one of those slowed my home screen animations dramatically.

I finally figured out what HDwalls does (creates a new default WP) but even that is kind of a PITA because every different manila version/OS version etc needs completely different settings in HDwalls.

I had my WP working from HDwalls perfectly in MightyROM, but then when I went to Juicy's ROM none of the WP cabs I had previously created worked anymore. I had to re-create all the cabs over again with completely different settings.

Ahh I see...I am pretty good with Photoshop so I find it simple to just recreate the the wallpaper there and then rebuild the manila files with the new images. I just downloaded and tried HDwalls and wow....I would think this would be kinda complicated to the average user.

Then you factor in that Im about as sharp as a circle....and Ill deal with slow animations lol. Itd take me more time for me to figure out HDWalls then the time of every animation Id see for the life of the phone cimbined! lol

LOL, I use Photoshop CS every day at work & I'm as handy with it as anybody.

Believe me, once you learn how to use HDwalls it is MUCH easier/faster than using PS.

There is a tutorial on XDA that walks you through the steps, once you realize how it works you can make new wallpaper cabs in minutes (I made six last night & tried them all on my phone & it took no time at all really)

you can skip the browser & icon editor, you don't need to install anything to the phone for the cabs to work.

the only semi-hard part is figuring out which profile to use.

So let me understand this cab is the wheather animation for the home screen weather for the location your at??????? I m new sorry but just getting mine looking good but really want to have that home screen animation of the weather i think it looks so cool need help please.

No all this will do is make your default wallpaper in TF3D as the one in the pictures. You are using stock sprint 2.1 Manila which has no weather animations built in.

Okay, I'm a bit confused by this thread. The title makes it seem like there is a cab that will let the TP2 homescreen clock look like the HTC Hero homescreen clock, which has the weather animations as part of the clock instead of a separate tab.

Is there such a cab, and if so, where can I find it?

Ok, I am wodering also, can you change the default WP without affecting the weather animations to any WP choose? And is this an WP is in all BG? or just the home page, Please let me know. I'd like isnstall the weather animation on my TP2.

I just want to know if I can this files run on my WM6.5, because I had some files like this to fix the slow motion in weather:

05b6f7b2_manila = fix sunny slow motion

so, if that's possible what are the names of the files that I need to replace in my hd2
