making a call?

Is there any EASY way to make a call on the TP2 without having to go to the phone dialer screen? by that I mean if I am in TF3D and I want to dial a contact I dont want to have to switch to the dialer, then turn the phone sideways and open the keyboard.. HOW? I know I can go to contacts and look it up but is there any easier way?

Re: making a call?

It says you can do this (BUT IT DOESNT WORK)

Dialing using the physical keyboard
To dial using the physical keyboard, perform the following steps:
1. At the Home screen, slide the keyboard open.
2. Enter the phone number.
3. Tap Talk to dial.

This does not work at all and when I start typing it says "SAVE TO CONTACTS"...

Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Pro 2: Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50286; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

Voice Command? Favorites tab? You can set Voice Command to not confirm name to make it call faster. Not sure if this answers your question.

dialing is pathetic. even on a lame motoQ (original) you could press and hold 2 to dial shortcut contact of your choice.

i know that has a qwerty front keypad but TP2 has too many misdials & accidental dials while clumsily looking for contacts or "favorites"..

all ideas welcome :)

Re: making a call?

look for an app called iDialer, I'd post the cab, but I'm at work.

dialer with big buttons and is RESPONSIVE compared to the HTC dialer.

the versions out now allows it to work with Google Voice as well.

After you installed iDialer, all you need is to remap one of the softkeys OR one of the hard keys to iDialer...then its pretty much one touch and dial.

If you want a quicker way to contacts..you can use the iDialer's companion program iContact...same thing...map it and you're ready to go!

thanks will check that out now.

about ready to dump TF3D altogether as i dumped the ozone's sliding panel for facade. too many holes, slowdown & head scratching to do basic stuff.

Re: making a call?

The easiest way I found was to just push the Physical Talk button which opens the dialer with the keypad showing, then just start typing in the persons name on the phone keypad, the matching results will appear instantly as you type. Then just tap the one you want when it appears. It usually only takes about 3-5 seconds to make a call.

Just as an extra tip, iDialer & iContacts can integrate with Google Voice. That's all I use 'em for, but it works well. :headbang:

this works fine for me. I have a little box on the bottom that says "talk" I just typed a name or number and hit that

i use the people tab (stock). you have the option of calling, text, or email, and all you have to do is touch the box you assign.
