Went and saw boondock saints last night, there was a display in the main lobby, supposedly if you have sprint, you text that number and it sends you a text message back. Then you hold the phone near the display and it prints up a coupon or something for discount or free food from the concession.

I wouldn't know though....

You don't have Sprint, Sprint has you jk.

If you have a custom rom you may have to install a carrier cab.

Hmmm... the only way I could imagine something like that working is if they send you a picture message with a barcode you can hold under a scanner.

If your phone isn't set up to receive MMS/Pic Mail, it might throw an error like that?

Can you use MMS?

You may have short code messaging blocked on your account. I have them block short code messages on mine because of the risks (I have a large family plan).

Well you obviously got the message so short codes aren't blocked...

And I personally doubt that carrier cabs have anything to do with it because you sent a text to their servers, so they scan your number to check.

I think the issue is on Sprint's side. Give them a call and ask them what they're doing.

Be curious to see what they say, I thought it was maybe because I was SERO, but the TP is on a non SERO.

I've used one of these, it uses purely text (no MMS).
