Full screen? Don't you have black boarders on the side?

Anyways, if you are talking about the mobile settings, high action with enable slingstream optimization checked.

I also check

Show statisics,
Reconnect to alst sling,
and x on top right of slingplayer.

Oh and I don't have the USE GDI Rendering checked..

Running on old Slingbox PRO with HD cable thingy.

Hey, does SlingPlayer work on the new WM6.5.3 ROMs? Or is there a separate version?

Sorry...couldn't resist. I need to get my slingbox working on the phone again. My problem is that i had to hook my slingbox pro to a wireless ethernet bridge and can't figure out how to access it from outside the home network.

Re: Slingbox on TP2 what are your settings?

here are my settings:
buffer manual 4sec.
unchecked optimization
unchecked encoding
video 350
fps full rate
i-frame 30
res. 320 x 240

just remember one thing : make sure you turn off control mode after changing channels or controls ..

under info settings: show statistics..this way you can tell if the frame rate and connection is good... frame rate should be ~29 for decent/smooth pictures.

I had slingbox on my tp1 but returned it because the quality is horrible, has slingbox updated the video quality. the video quality on the slingbox reminds me of the nfl network on the nfl mobile app. if it still looks like that the slingbox is useless to me.

The quality heavily depends on YOUR home ISP, and the speed you get on the phone.

You might should consider a Hava.
It is cheaper than Sling, you can save stuff to your hard drive which sling has blocked, and the mobile app is free instead of 29.99. JMO though.

been using since my 700wx and the main component has always been the internet speed, without decent speeds settings will be moot.

Hava is great for a local network but not phones.. it doesn't support the TP2 480x800, well unless you don't need to change channels via your phone. I have both HavaHD & slingbox... if $ is an issue ago with the slingbox solo and their mobile player.

OT But anyone here running a Slingbox on a Mac using Airport Extreme '09 that feels like helping me get mine set back up again? I changed the processor and hard drive in my Mac and got a new Airport and I can not get the Sling software to find the Slingbox at all now. I love my Slingbox and it would look great on my new TP2, but Sling doesn't play very nicely with Macs

Re: Slingbox on TP2 what are your settings?

when you have new/updated firmware on your router, you pretty much have to factory reset your sling as well

Could you elaborate on this? What exactly does HAVA do or not do on the TP2's 480x800? I checked their site, and they show 640x480 - not exactly the TP2's display, but close enough?

Thanks!

I had a hava for a short time & would never buy another one. Hava has the absolute WORST CS I've ever dealt with (& thats saying something)

I thought the hava was awesome at first, but the first unit I had went bad in three weeks. It was a PITA but I got it replaced under warranty. The second one also went bad & the third one I got was DOA right out of the box.....

At that point, I decided I wanted a refund. Well, good luck with that. I did finally get the refund, but I must have spent 20 hours on the phone, threatened to sue etc etc etc etc

The hava mobile app does not really work very well either, the last I knew landscape did not work at all (I haven't checked on it lately because I don't care anymore)

yes, it does. Last year, I replaced my router & some cabling on my LAN & my SlingMobile quality improved quite noticeably (RoadRunner Turbo internet connection).

The problem I have is, it's not consistent & I'm not really sure why.

One day I will get 25 fps (& the picture is perfect) & the next day on the same channel in the same area I will get 2 fps (it still works but it's very blotchy/pixelly)

I use the thing everyday & would be lost without it, but I wish I could figure out how to ALWAYS get over 20 fps..........

Re: Slingbox on TP2 what are your settings?

I'm giving some thought to the Slingbox for use with my Verizon Touch Pro 2:

1. Is there any point in getting the HD Pro version of Sling Box if the primary use will be on the Touch Pro 2, and Laptop only secondarily?

2. Does the Windows Mobile app take advantage of the wonderful 480x800 pixel landscape orientation of the TP2?

3. I'll need to set it up in a room reasonably near my WR54TG Wireless Router, and there's a good chance I'll be adding a BluRay player with ethernet connectivity. Which is the better option - SlingLink Turbo/4-port Receiver, or some type of multi-port Wireless Game Adapter or Ethernet Bridge?

Re: Slingbox on TP2 what are your settings?

I have the SB Pro (not the HD, that was not available at the time). I have it hooked up with the component cables from my HD cable box & also straight from my cable line.

This gives me two different video input options as the Pro SB has an internal tuner. If I pick the cable box as the input for SlingMobile, I get all the premium channels (HBO, all the on demand channels etc etc) but the Sling channel has to be the same channel as the home TV.

If I pick the cable as the input, then I can watch a DIFFERENT channel than the home TV is on although it is limited to basic cable channels (no HBO etc)

I probably would have bought the HD if it was available at the time although it gives no advantage whatever on a cell phone & that's really the only thing I use my SB for.

I would not recommend the Sling Link wireless setup. I tried that briefly & at least in my house it totally sucked. It worked, but my SlingMobile reception was terrible & it dropped the connection constantly.

Unfortunately, no it doesn't.

It works fine in LS, but it's not 100% full screen.

Hava Windows Mobile is ideal for 320x240 qVGA phones. It plays (forced landscape) but on TP2 (verizon stock) you can't bring up the remote or change channels. only the play/stop (center button) and volume works, plus the menu (too slow to change channels with menu). no keyboard shortcuts work.

you could run WVGAFIX3 to set the device to 640x480 but that doesn't remedy anything plus the phone is unusable for anything else during playback.

i'd settle for running qVGA resolution in portrait mode but the software is too stupid to allow for that too.

utterly pathetic customer support.

Is there a way to put Slingbox into landscape mode and not have to open/slide the keyboard. I want to put it onto my Vent Mount in Landscape mode. However my mount won't hold the TP2 with the keyboard open.

Any suggestions?

Yes. There's a little icon at the bottom that sort of looks like the icon at the top right of the window on your PC that makes the window full screen. On the Sling, the icon puts the slingplayer into landscape mode.

sndtubes,
I can get my phone into landscape full screen if I slide the TP2 keyboard open. What I want to be able to do is to do Landscape with the keyboard closed.

What version did you download? I would like to try your version. I have that icon in landscape but not portrait.

Re: Slingbox on TP2 what are your settings?

I have both a Slingbox and a Hava. I'm currently using the Hava as it has much better quality when viewing on my local network.

I'm using a Hava mobile client that was posted here. It works correctly in landscape mode, even in WM 6.5 (where WVGA doesnt work)

How does the quality compare for remote viewing on the phone??

When I compared them over a year ago (I didn't have the TP2 yet) there was only a tiny difference in viewing on my TP (the HAVA was a hair better, but it was really inconsequential)

I only use my Sling for remote viewing on the phone (or using video out in a hotl room etc), so I don't care at all about local network quality.

Re: Slingbox on TP2 what are your settings?

I find the remote viewing quality to be pretty even. Neither is really that great. The only thing the Slingbox clearly is better at is the remote control interaction. The Hava lags badly when using the remote control. I have tried different settings but still much slower than Sling. Also, Sling mobile has the favorite channels list, Hava Mobile doesn't (but is free).

Another plus for the Hava is that it can have multiple simultaneous viewers.

Re: Slingbox on TP2 what are your settings?

Is there a limit on the the download of the SlingPlayer? I know that I can upload 6Mbps via speedtest.net.

However the download always stays around 350 to 400 Kbps under SlingPlayer statistics. Is there any way to increase the download speed for a better picture? I know that I can reach it on the TP2 because when I use HTCWifi for my laptop I get close to 1.2 Mbps download.
