Data connection dead?
 

I've tried to search this out before starting a new thread, but I haven't found an answer. All of the other threads discuss problems similar to mine, but they aren't quite the same.

The problem starts when an icon (that looks like the data connection arrows) appears in my taskbar. As long as that icon is up there, I can't connect to the internet, my weather updates won't work, and any other data program is rendered useless. Soft resets don't help, because the icon comes right back when the phone comes back on. I've restored a back up file and cleared it temporarily, but it just comes back a few days later. What's going on?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm on the latest edition of Mighty Rom, if that helps. This rom is AWESOME by the way. This is the only problem I'm having while running it, and the issue may not even be with the rom.

This is for Verizon users only.

Some programs require Verizons data 3g connection. ( or it may be a local tower issue needing pass thru)

I use this.

Go to settings/connections
At top ( its in white writing on grey background> Click advanced
click select networks
My ISP should show up click edit
you should see my connection ( your #777) , leave it don't touch it.
click new
enter a name for the connection, leave it on cellular line, click next,

Enter this in next box:

emgsm.vzw3g.com, then click next

Enter again in username: emgsm.vzw3g.com
password: vzw

click finish and soft reset phone.

I tried to run mine without this setting on the new rom. Nope nadda. So added it and I have my data back. I also didn't need to *228 option 1 this time.. YAY!

Thanks soo much!! I wish I had time to try it out, but I have to go to class in like 2 min. I'll post back in a few hours and let you know how it worked out.
