Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
I am using a Sprint PPC-6800. I have all my class schedules in my calendar. Recently I noticed that sometimes the phone will switch to vibrate mode automatically during some scheduled events, but not on all events. It will not turn back to ring mode after the event.
I wonder what option triggers this switching? I am using the stock WM calendar app and HTC Home 6 tab version. Thanks in advance. DM |

Calender Q
Hey Guys the show time as option is what will cause this option to not silence your phones. If you'l select the option that says show time as free it shouldn't put a damper on your ringing.

I am having the same problem. Whenever I change my calendar the phone switches to vibrate. Any suggestions? Anyone had this problem and figured it out?

What the origina poster (OP) is describing is that, when scheduled events occur, his phone goes to vibrate. It's important to note that I have the HTC plugin as well - so I can choose one of four ringer/alert profile: Sound On (always on), Silent, Vibrate, or Automatic. Automatic keeps the ringer/alerts on, however, if you have a scheduled appointment that is NOT marked as "free time" - then it will automatically change over to vibrate mode. Your problem is a bit different and kind of what I'm experiencing. If you are to change a calendar entry directly on the device, then the sound setting changes for some reason. My profile stays the same - that is, if I'm on the vibrate profile, it "shows" that its still on the vibrate profile, yet the ringer & alerts turn on. No idea why and don't know how to fix, I just wanted to clarify that we've got 3 different issues reported in this thread. The only two fixes are for those that say their phone changes from normal ring/alert to vibrate during scheduled appointments. If not using an app that has sound profiles, then you have to make sure your calendar appointment is set to "free time" as opposed to "busy". If using an app that DOES have sound profiles, than don't use "Automatic" mode cuz it'll turn your rings off automatically during scheduled appts. |
Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
I use hhc home customizer...I changed the status to 'free' and then back to 'busy' and I am not experiencing the problem right now. fyi- it only happened when I changed an appointment. I always have used 'busy' and have never experienced the problem before.
I hope this helps someone or sheds some light on their specific problem. |
Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
It's like the option for "Automatic Profile" that smartphones have. If your appointment is set to busy and you are using the HTC home with the automatic profile, your phone will switch to vibrate. If the appointment is set to free, your phone will have no change.

Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
I had a customer that this was happening too. He had Ringo installed. Once he uninstalled Ringo (a ringtone program that by-passes your settings) it worked fine.

Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
This helps a lot I was having the same issue with ringer.

Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
nope, I dont have ringo installed..its not on automatic...it is on normal...never happened before yesterday.
Still cant figure it out? |
Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
Can anyone shed any light on this? It happens when in calender and change an appointment, then vibrate comes on. I am not in automatic on profile, I am on Normal.

Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
I have the "editing calendar item switches to vibrate" problem, I thought I was going crazy phone mysteriously started going to vibrate mode.
It happens when I save an appointment. I'm using HTC Home plug in and Pocket Informant 2007. The sound profile is set to Normal in HTC Home, I then go to the calendar, edit an item, click save and phone immediately goes to vibrate. Going back to HTC Home reveals that it thinks it is still set to the "Normal" profile. Clicking on the "Normal" sound profile sets things back to normal. -Josh |
Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
The phone is not set to "automatic" it is set to "normal" on htc home customizer. Therfore that is not the answer. Any other ideas? Thanks

Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
The problem is definitely with HTC Home and/or HTC Home Customizer...
I can successfully reproduce this problem. I did so, then removed HTC Home Customizer and HTC Home and am not able to reproduce the problem without the two programs installed. -Josh |
Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
Yes it is a hhc prbolem. You can also go into your hhc home customizer and remove profiles from your selected tabs and the problem dissapears.

Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
Thanks,
Removing the Profiles tab does stop the problem. - Josh |
Re: Phone turning to vibrate mode automatically?
Removing the profiles tab seems like a bad "work around", because it takes away the feature of being able to quickly change to silent, vibrate or normal. With that said - updating to the latest ROM has fixed this on my device. Now, the Profiles work exactly as they should: Normal uses normal rings/sounds, Silent is just that, Vibrate is just that, and Automatic quiets the phone during scheduled appointments.
So, get the latest ROM and see if the problem goes away for you too! |

My problem is that I have automatic profile selected, created a test appointment on my phone, kept it labeled as BUSY (which should switch the phone to vibrate when the appointment starts). However, the phone never changes to vibrate!! I *THINK* skny is saying that appointments created on the phone will not work with the automatic ringer profile, and it doesn't switch to vibrate like it should. Does this mean that the appointments that are in Outlook and synced WILL work and switch to vibrate automatically??? (The appointments are set to busy) Any help would be appriciated... I finally found the profiles for ringers (not under windows settings, only under the touchFlo settings)... after looking all over and finally finding the settings I was relieved... but now that i found the setting and turned it on, it isn't working!! Thanks in advance |
