I'm having a MAJOR problem with my internet connection

This morning my internet connection was working properly. About an hour later I go to use it and it's not working. Mind you, my connection hasn't been as fast as it was when I first got it 3 weeks ago. I've also been having service interruptions. I've already been on with 3 CSRs that were no help at all. I got connected to a level 3 tech and he told me to ## data# and reset my profile. I did that. Still doesn't work. After that, I was instructed to go into settings/phone/internet/get settings and click "start" to initiate custon NAI entry to device. The button works but NOTHING happens when I click start. I have IOTA at the top of my screen and the box that says "data provisioning preparing vision services please wait" tries to initiate and NOTHING happens til it times out with a 1012 error stating "data provision error could not prepare vision services." The level 3 tech told me to activesync to backup and call them back so we can do a "more thorough hard reset" whatever that means. So, bottom line, my internet is f****d and I don't know what to do. Any suggestions/help/ideas? Sorry for the long story I just had to explain it entirely before I take off to class....=/

blazin-asian 10-11-2007 03:54 PM

this has been discussed a million times, but heres how i fix error 67 and 1012.

go to comm manager
switch to flight mode and wait second
switch back to phone mode and wait a second
soft reset and you should be back up and running

good idea is to backup using SPB backup or something when your internet is working so you can restore to that point if you need to

PS. calling sprint about this issue is totally useless. its faster just to hard reset and restore then wait on the phone and be handed off to people left and right.

wILLk0r3 818 10-11-2007 04:27 PM

Thanks blazin-asian, but I'm still getting Error 1012. IOTA is at the top and at the bottom, the box is displaying "data provisioning. preparing vision services. please wait." I'm really starting to lose my cool with this problem. =/

Krayziepop 10-11-2007 04:33 PM

Well, since you have already cleared the vision profile ala the first tech you talked to, you will have to call them back and perform a master reset of the device (aka a more complete hard reset). After you do that, the phone will come back up unprovisioned and the tech will walk you through the steps to get back up and running. This will work to fix the problem (has for me twice).

wILLk0r3 818 10-11-2007 04:41 PM

Thanks krayziepop. Damn, that's the one thing I didn't wanna do, was perform a hard/master reset. Grrrrr. Do you know what causes this issue?

Krayziepop 10-11-2007 05:05 PM

Do you tether at all? My problem was the normal crap with ICS f@@king up the vision profiles. All I would have had to do is click connect, then disconnect to straighten things back out again. But, c'est la vie...

In any case, I wouldn't worry too much about the hard reset... I know it sucks to have to set everything back up again, but hopefully you won't have to do this again. If you are tethering at all, just make sure to do the reg edit that Luv2Chill pointed out in one of the other tethering threads to make ICS run without the extensions for Multi-NAI.

wILLk0r3 818 10-11-2007 05:13 PM

I don't tether. I never messed with anything vital to proper internet operations or connections either. It's strange because it was working just fine this morning then out of nowhere it crapped out. I probably shouldn't have reset my profile though LOL ohhh well, time for a hard/master reset! It's a bummer though because I won't be able to make it right 'til tomorrow evening. I appreciate your help krayziepop. =)

EtherealRemnant 10-12-2007 02:51 AM

How does one perform a master reset? I've never even heard of it before.

wILLk0r3 818 10-12-2007 03:05 AM

...I've got no idea. Krayziebop filled me in on when I mentioned a "more thorough hard reset" and of what I know, it makes it "out-of-the box" new where the internet has to setup, because that's my problem at the moment. BTW, I'm not elite in the ppc game but I've never heard of a master reset til in this thread. All I know is my internet connection went from just fine but somewhat slow for the last couple days to totally FUBAR within one hour exactly. That does not sit right with me ya know.

EtherealRemnant 10-12-2007 03:20 AM

Ah, apparently its ##786# and I assume you'd have to enter in your MSL.

And yeah, i totally know how you feel.

My 6700 went from being perfectly fine to having a radio that worked sporadically practically overnight... Sprint didn't believe me and then it did it right in front of their very eyes.

JackSchitt28 10-12-2007 03:04 PM

i am having the same issue, apparently it is a problem with Sprint, not the mogul. i went to the store and was on the phone with tech support all morning. they said give it some time, so I am.

wILLk0r3 818 10-12-2007 03:39 PM

So even though I reset my data profile, should I avoid doing a hard reset? As of now I'm gonna sit tight til tomorrow and if it doesn't work I'll make my next move. Damn, when I go out on the weekends I must have my Mogul up and running! LOL

JackSchitt28 10-12-2007 03:49 PM

the phone should be working, just not data, hold out on that reset til tomorrow.

wILLk0r3 818 10-12-2007 04:23 PM

Positive, the phone is working properly. =) I'm never gonna call tech support/CS again!

MadHatter66 10-12-2007 08:28 PM

Yeah, mine provisioned at 1200PST today... And my data speeds are back up to around 800Kb on average...

wILLk0r3 818 10-12-2007 08:30 PM

**UPDATE** My phone just provisioned as well. It must have been within the last couple hours for me because I tried while in class at 2:30pm and it was still trippin. My speeds are up as well. Jjjjjjyyyeahhhh!! =p

MadHatter66 10-12-2007 08:39 PM

Sprint wont admit it, I tried when I called them today... But I am almost positive it had something to do with the account migration...

wILLk0r3 818 10-12-2007 08:58 PM

Ya know what boggles me? When Sprint knows what's going on and they waste their time AND my time with "trying to help me fix the problem" just to try and please me. Well, it works now. So now, 2 things we're all waiting on; EVDO Rev. A and aGPS. Gives me chills just thinking about it, so I'm gonna make myself forget about it again til some reliable info is available.

937dytboi 10-12-2007 09:43 PM

the tech took me through steps to fix my iota issue 1012

specv 10-12-2007 10:47 PM

i had the same issues, i wish i knew it was a network issue and i wouldnt have done a hard reset

wILLk0r3 818 10-13-2007 12:00 AM

Yeah it's a good thing I didn't end up doing my hard reset today. LOL But they sure wasted about 2 hours of my time yesterday morning.

ls3mach 10-13-2007 12:44 AM

I am having a 67 error. I was messing around with tethering just before though. Do you guys think it is a migration issue? My account isn't in ensemble yet.

EtherealRemnant 10-13-2007 12:57 AM

Well, I ended up knocking out my phone... got curious about ##786#

I did the master reset and then ##MSL# and reactivated the phone but I did this last night, and I too lost my net until this afternoon when I just decided to try it on a whim. The IOTA completed almost instantly and I was back in business.

I wonder if they migrated me to Ensemble last night or if it was something else...

dbigdawg 10-13-2007 01:42 AM

Provisioning Issue

It was a provisioning issue that mainly effected Moguls and it had nothing to do with Ensemble. Mogul customers are already on Ensemble. Issue was resolved on 10/11 around 12:00 CST. Some devices did not auto provision once the issue was resolved and customers had to contact technical support to reset through ##786#. If you are still having problems, dial 888-211-4727 from your home phone and ask for technical support. They can reconstruct your Vision Data services and resolve the problem.

iizen 10-13-2007 03:49 AM

I work for sprint's adv tech support. I have a 6800, and we have been horrible problems with the internet on the 6800's only for some reason.. Yhey have since solved this. My phone was affected and I was sad.. :( I ended up having to hard reset my phone to get it reconnect.

JackSchitt28 10-13-2007 09:19 AM

i did a hard reset plus yesterday, meaning i hard reset the phone, plus i wiped the programming out of it, then when it came back to the today screen, i made it connect to the internet and IOTA did it's thing, i re entered my MSL number, then the MSID and MDN and everything is good. The tech I spoke with informed that even without your info in the phone, the internet will still work. that guy is registered with us on here and he is a champ with the moguls, so when he pops me a message I am going to get him in here to help anyone else still having issues.

Thanks alot JackSchitt and others who posted insightful info in this thread. I'm still fairly new to the PPC world but I'm absorbing everything like a sponge. I'm very happy to have found an awesome community to call home! =) All is well and all my settings are back to normal and I'm happy I didn't have to hard reset+. Sorry to those who had to though!

hey man, not a problem. i know the frsutration and am always here to help when i can. i unfortunately had to hard reset like 3 times yesterday, but today everything is all good. anyone having issues, call this number 877 809 6696 thats the advanced tech support, i had to wait on hold a while, but they resolved my issue.

wILLk0r3 818 10-13-2007 12:41 PM

Yeah I was up maaaad late a couple nights ago making a folder on my memory card with all my CABs just in case. I have that number in my phone now just in case I'll ever need it and I'm sure I will! The tech I spoke to on Thursday morning was ALOT of help but I don't think he knew what the problem was at that point. While I was on my alternate line with him, my phone died and he actually called me back. Big ups to Kevin at Sprints advanced tech support!

JackSchitt28 10-13-2007 02:34 PM

the guy that helped me was Ronald. I have been getting alot of US tech supports, not overseas where they are reading a script.

kevin porter 10-15-2007 01:55 PM

You can perform a hard reset by (you must be ambidextrous for this) pressing the two dots on the face of the PDA and then press with the stylus the reset button on the bottom. It will then ask you if you want to erase all data. This will reset the PDA without resetting the phone.

wILLk0r3 818 10-15-2007 02:00 PM

I didn't have to hard reset, I was actually gonna do it but I decided to try one last time and my everything connected/setup quickly and properly. Surprisingly, my connection is better than it was the week before it went out. Maybe it's coincidence, I don't know, but how it's performing now is how it was when I first got it almost a month ago.
