why isnt there a program to fix this or a notification in sounds & notifications that can be used to silence the notification?

This is a Sprint Radio issue. None of my GSM Windows Mobile phones EVER had a problem like this. WinMo is actually very good, but I've seen this happen on Sprint's devices before (some people claimed it happened on the 6700 as well, however I personally never owned one).

I used to experience the random device-wake-up on my mogul in my office, where the device seemed to have trouble figuring out which tower to connect to (weak sprint signal, strong roaming VZ signal). This was very frustrating to me since the last 4 HTC devices I owned never gave me a problem (Tornado, T-mo SDA, Dash, Wizard).

I found that if I were to force the phone into roaming in that weak area, the device would stay off as intended. This is indeed very annoying, but its a good temporary fix. When I leave the office I put the phone back into automatic as intended.

I wrote a little MortScript and posted it on XDA-developers that will switch between roaming and automatic for you.

Just to clarify again: Its a SPRINT issue, and not a Windows Mobile one!!

Im not understanding, if this is a radio issue, why does it occur when im not switching networks, there are no updates my phone is receiving, no net connection, im not even moving, i have a full bar signal with sprint (they are the best in my area), and yet i get the
backlight cutting on

wm6 is buggy already, its my assumption (from a none technical standpoint) that this is not related to tower feeds, i'll play around with this later on today tho, being wrong doesnt bother me, but from what ive seen, it doesnt look like a radio issue

*edit* Any alltel wm6 users get this problem?

There are multiple things besides the radio that cause it.

Nobody knows what all of them are. I've found that when ActiveSync decides to launch itself in the background, my phone will power itself out of standby as well.

Just to chime in that this has to be a bug that will get fixed with an upgrade. My Telus Mogul on MW5 used to do this like crazy and ever since they upgraded us to WM6, it has yet to happen.

Telus Windows Mobile 6 is: CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.0)

Check in Settings/About to see if yours has a lower build number.

Looks like I'm waking up an old thread w/ this (and yes, I searched and this is all i found), but ever since I upgraded to 3.35 I've had this problem. There has been speculation as to the cause, but I can add that my signal strength is fine, and it only started after the update.

Mine does this when it uses the data connection.
So even if I have everything closes, it will turn it on when my email does it's hourly send / recieve.

Re: Mogul backlight randomly turns on while device locked

I don't think it's strictly a Sprint problem. I have a T-Mobile Dash and my backlight comes on constantly for no reason. I'll leave it on the table and it comes on. I just recently replaced my battery because it would constantly drain even without using it.

I've had this problem with every official rom and unofficial rom. On 2 different Moguls. You'll get used to it eventually.

this has already been confirmed to not be an issue of roaming or data switching, this is simply a windows mobile is too stupid to stay off problem

sometimes i will be sitting in room with a great connection and my phone on the desk, it will simply wake up for no reason, it must be a os problem

No way, this is absolutly a Network issue. Back when I was on Long Island, my phones backlight would come on CONSTANTLY. My guess as to why it was doing this was because my house is on a NID border. Everytime the phone switched NIDS, the backlight would pop on. Now here in Buffalo where NIDs arent a problem, the backlight NEVER comes on by itself, not once. This has to be a localized network issue.

Man, you dudes sure do get fired up.

I'm thinking it's a lack of wings n' beer issue, if they were to include those with the phone, it would work 100%!

Happens to me all the time too. Signal at work isn't so hot so it constantly turns on and off. Wish there was a way to just keep the damn light off till I hit the button.
