Navizon questions
Anyone using Navizon? Opinions? Does it play nice with your GPS? How is the database in your area?
|
I've used it with my bt gps so that i get paid for taking trips and using it. The software itself has been fairly buggy, but once you figure out what works for you it isn't so bad. As for the database i haven't really tried the pay service portion since i have my own gps.

I haven't used it yet, but from what I understand its a one time fee thing. the pay service is them actually paying you to go around 'mapping' new areas. I think in most major metropolitans you'll get a pretty accurate location (check website to see maps and wifi points). its actually a pretty good idea but I figure it'll only really work well in areas with wifi spots.

I tried navizon and it gets location from my phone not wifi on TELUS network

its not a street level detail app in general but i supposed it will get better as more poeple map. From my home when i tested it i think it was about 20 miles off. Not great for navigation but if you were way in the middle of bfe it might narrow things down to show you which is the nearest city etc.

Live in downtown Chicago and it had me about 30 miles off in the burbs...

Good god!!! I'm in North Orange County, CA and 20-30 miles off would put me in Santa Monica.

So using this program, and following the instructions from http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=158101
I was able to use google maps or Microsoft live and use the "virtualGPS" which isn't bad. It's off by a couple of blocks but what do you expect, it's free gps =) Oh,also forgot I'm currently using Colonel's custom rom 12.14 one. |
