Orb or TVersity?

I've used Orb on my Samsung A900 a year ago, I thought it was slow and quality is horrible. Im about to order my mogul on the 1st and I wanted to know has there been any improvements with Orb? Hows the quality/codecs with the mogul? Anyone used TVersity before wanna share their opinions about the software.

Cant Orb and TVersity let you watch live tv on your phone if you have a tv card? whats the big difference

psywzrd 09-27-2007 04:11 PM

Another vote for Slingbox. With the screen on this thing and good EVDO coverage, the picture is incredible.

Is there any special version of the SB? Any special HW or SW?

Glossman 09-27-2007 10:01 PM

I have a Slingbox AV. Works really well with my DirecTV with Tivo.

Slingbox Classic here - $20.00 on ebay these days, works like a charm! New 1.5 code out too.

So you're saying the ORB works, but slingbox is the way to go? What is better about the slingbox?

Baffles 09-30-2007 10:23 AM

Where are you finding a Slingbox for $20 on ebay? All the ones I see are at least $40-$70, plus shipping.

I did some reading around the slingbox forum.. Im guessin since all you here say your loving your slingbox then u some how figured out how to fix the sync issue with the mogul?

what sync issue? like audio/video sync? it runs perfectly for me...

MakeMoves 09-30-2007 03:20 PM

orb is beta. it works good for me if you set the stream to 300. only thing is playlists do not work on mogul. only plays 30-60 sec of each song. Several pple have had the issue on their support forum and no answer so far. (seems to be problem only on mogul)
dont have a tv card so cant speak for that.

Now that you mention it, I did notice some sync issues when Slinging on my Mogul (it works great on my 700wx though). I'll have to look into it further to see what the cause could be.

jae18708 09-30-2007 09:12 PM

its a small sync issue caused by sling box usage of direct draw(?)

slingbox is a stand alone device and orb requires you to have ur pc and net connection on all the time u wanna use it

Do you know if there's a fix for it?

TurboFool 10-01-2007 01:44 PM

Orb for me. I have yet to see any reason I would need to buy a Slingbox. My PC's always on, and I'm mainly using it for non-live television, so a free service trumps a paid device every day.

Existentialism 10-01-2007 04:13 PM

Orb on my Media Center. I see no point to a slingbox.

saqer 10-01-2007 04:35 PM

I use ORB and am highly satisfied with it. I don't think there's a point to slingbox unless of course your media center is separate from your computer.

I really wish, though, orb'd release a client for WM5, having to navigate through their browser version isn't easy sometimes, especially when on the move.

Agree^^^

It is the main reason why I don't use it as much as I could or would like to.

not until HTC makes better drivers for the mogul.

garberfc 10-15-2007 03:28 PM

Orb is very cool! I have it streaming the media on my PC, but 99.9% of my video stuff is on my TiVo.

I'm looking to have both Orb and Slingbox / Hava.

kronium 10-18-2007 08:48 PM

Well, Orb can't control my Time Warner DVR, or my 6 disc DVD changer. So I think I'll stick with my Slingbox.

ls3mach 10-19-2007 02:45 AM

Orb + LogMeIn + Giganews + Server = God-mode.

Almost time to upgrade to 1TB. 120GB of music and about 100 movies. I mean it is no 6-disc DVD changer  but it works for me. :)
