Remap OK button

I have wisbar installed and want to map the ok button to close the windows with the wisbar feature. On my 6700 in the button config it allowed you to set it. The 6800 doesnt have the option and wisbar by default wont do it. Anyone have a clue as where you can remap the ok button?

dbarrett5381 09-24-2007 11:42 AM

ae button plus will do it. You can use the button mapping features without having to buy the program

stroths 09-28-2007 06:25 PM

ae button plus won't map the OK button on the Mogul. It did it on my 700wx just fine though.

dbarrett5381 09-28-2007 11:01 PM

Awesome...I did not know they had a new version. Thanks for the update.

For those wondering, you don't have to manually uninstall any older versions of AE as this will do it for you and your settings are preserved.

EDIT: Single, Double, and Triple Press work just fine for the OK button. However, Long Press on the OK button does nothing when I map something to it. Anyone else have any luck?

specv 09-29-2007 08:48 AM

yea im using AE button plus now and it works great

Ha i read this thread and downloaded this app the other day...
and looked at it and was like "eh this is lame, ill play with it another day"
and today when i was just milling around the forum, bored. I read the thread again, and i read the above post and i was like "4x????? what is he talking about?"
so i open the app and start playing again, and OMG IT HAS 4 APPS PER BUTTON... I just died... Keyboard and button shortcuts are like phone porn to me... this app kicks ass, thanks guys...

TheBundo 10-04-2007 04:01 AM

It works with the new AEButton YES

divxrippimp 10-04-2007 04:07 AM

i dunno what you mean?

but i have another question... can any successfully do triple tap on the soft keys, cause that would be nuts... and is there a way to remap the phone keys without the single click action of each being changed? i dunno where to direct each button for the single click action after i change them, id like they to do exactly what they do now, but have double click actions also...

AE Button Plus - Long Press with OK Button

I emailed the author of AE Button Plus regarding the "Long Press" mapping of the OK button. Single, double and triple press mappings work perfectly. However, the long press does not work with the OK button. Here is what he replied back with:

Quote:

Yes, this is a real problem. Unfortunately it is a system restriction: default WM5/WM6 button driver returns both "ok was pressed" and "ok was released" AFTER you depress the button only... So it looks like impossible for AEBPlus to detect if it was "long" or "short" keypress because these events follows one-by-one...
This worked on my old 700wx, but Palm modified the hell out of it and apparently modified that button driver as well.

Can the new version of AE Button Plus let you remap one OK button but not the other? I'd like the one on the front of the Mogul to keep its default function and only remap the one under the scroll wheel. Does anyone know if that's possible? It seems like a waste to have two hard buttons that do exactly the same thing. I've been using AE Button Plus for months and this new version sounds great since it may fix my only gripe left with the buttons.

No, the new 2.6 version doesn't allow different ok buttons, or fix the ok hold button issues...

Anyway to disable the power button I hit ever time i use the scroll wheel.
Love the program!

I'm looking for a way to remap only one of the OK buttons. Anything known for that yet? The OK button on the front of my Mogul is the most useless button on there. I have yet to press it even once. The one on the side of the unit is where my thumb always is, so it's the most convenient one. I've used the one on the keyboard once or twice, too. But I'd love to program the front button to do something useful for a change.

So is installing AE Button Plus (in some capacity) the only way to re-map the side OK button? It would be nice to be able to do so with a simple registry fix like specv asked.

yea it would be nice but AE button plus is sooo small and very easy to use. It runs as a service once it is setup you dont even know its there

psywzrd 10-14-2007 03:43 PM

AE is a great program. I used it to configure the Ok button on the front to lock and power off my device on a double press (using DeviceLock with it). I wish there was a way to unlock it using buttons only rather than having to tap the screen. I know you can do an easy unlock with DeviceLock (just push the left soft key to unlock) but that's a little too easy for me. I would prefer to just hit the left soft key and the center button on the 4-way switch (similar to how you do it on the Treo). That would be the easiest way to do it while keeping the phone from unlocking accidentally. Has anyone figured out if that can be done with AE?

i like the double ok as the power button, what do u map to turn off the phone

psywzrd 10-15-2007 03:58 PM

It's an option within DeviceLock (Suspend Device) - check off that option. Then use AE to run the DeviceLock application (not the built-in device lock) upon a double-click of the Ok button - it will lock your phone and power it off.

Re: Remap OK button

Since my power button is broke. I tried this program, and I am only able to turn my phone screen off. I can not turn it on. Anyone else having this specific issue?
