-   -   On Average, How Many Times Do You Soft Reset Your Mogul? (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=8268)

A couple of times a day, but most of those are because I'm installing or deleting new software. In terms of device performance, I only reset about once every other day. WM6's memory management sucks. Otherwise, I doubt that we would need to soft reset at all.

i only have too when my phone freezes, about once a week. i use oxios close apps to recover lost memory.

No, they are 2 separate things. A soft reset is akin to restarting your computer. Turning your phone off is akin to turning your bluetooth/wifi connection off.

Twice a day on average. But if you use SKTools to reclaim RAM and clean up the directories, you will see a drastic improvement.

when i said turning the phone off, i mean completely shutting down the phone (holding in Power button until Warning Message pops up, then hitting Yes to continue)...not just putting it in sleep/standby or whatever

if it's the same as a computer, then to answer my own question, yes shutting down & restarting is the same as hitting the reset button

I'm wondering the same thing. I tend to soft reset my mogul every day, simply because it's so much easier to do than to power cycle it. I'm trying to cut back and not soft reset it so much, though I don't really know if it matters or if it's better/worse than power cycling the device.

I soft reset to gain memory or after a program settings change.

Well I'll be damned. I've never hit and held the power button before. When you do that, it is the same as a soft reset.

Cool didn't know that.

I probably reset once a week at most.

the main difference between holding down power and pressing reset:

when you hold down power it will stop services, write cache, etc etc. when you press the reset button it just resets.

when i make a change in my registry i power down and up, rather than waiting several minutes for the change to be written and then poking the reset pin.
