Stumbled across this dialer...VERY practical

I was looking at different themes and I ran across this one in the dialer that I have not seen before (excuse me if I'm late). This particular dialer has a small window on it that resembles the contact list. You can filter this window to show contacts & calls received/dialed, calls dialed, or speed dial numbers. In this pic, I am using the calls dialed filter. I have found this dialer to be VERY useful as I can just click the phone button and use the scroll wheel to dial numbers that I have either called or received a call from recently. It's definitely convenient when driving. If this is something that isn't in the mainstream, let me know and I will gladly post how I did it.

That looks just like the default WM6 dialer LOL

lol I know it's the default dialer, however it has the scroll box with contacts and dialed calls now. Mine did not have that before (so it's new to me).

Yeah I can see that. I guess that's a little more convenient than pushing a button to see the same thing.

Ok Mr. sarcastic, in this window it doesn't show the same number multiple times in a row. So say the same number has called you for whatever reason, instead of seeing the same number over and over and over, it just shows you once. It is much faster and much more convenient than having to go into the call history everytime. Perhaps you don't see how this is useful, but it has been very useful for me.

yeah it does look a lot like the same one, but one diff. color in there, it's cool though!

Yeah it is the exact same one. What happened was I removed a dialer skin that I installed from spb, and when I went back to the default dialer skin, I now have scroll box for quick access to calls and contacts without having to leave the dialer screen.

I wonder if there is a way of stripping functionality into a cab for an easy install?

pixelwix 08-30-2007 07:03 PM

this was a function i liked about my gf Wing, when she first got it. i had it on my mogul now, its easy to do

HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin
Change the value of Enabled to 0
Soft Reset
just a sidenote if you do this i think your evdo icons stay white all the time.

mysterioustko 08-30-2007 08:00 PM

Great! I just wonder why they didn't enable this by default. It kinda makes you wonder what other features may be present that are just hidden away. hmm.....

pixelwix 08-30-2007 10:25 PM

its not a matter of if they enabled it or not, its just sprint made thier own dailer i guess, and since there was already smart dialer there, there was no point to having that enabled too, but like i said it breaks the evdo icons, so that could be why the disabled it too

superflysocal 08-31-2007 12:03 AM

can't get this to work. when i do this and soft reset the value change back to 1

edit: got it to work. justhave to not soft reset so quickly and wait for the registry change to be made.
unfortunately this nice feature is not compatible with the new Mogul Big Button Dialer from Paul Hammons.

Mysterioustko... could you post how you did this. Read through the posts and could not find the reg key. Does this disable the redial function (as most addon dialers seem too). Is it compatible with the HTC dialer skin.

I am using the Vista black dialer, but may go back to the HTC dialer if this feature works as I am missing the redial (or call last number shown) in WM6 with any of the older WM5 dialer skins. (Not to mention the lack of smartdial)

WarRaven 09-05-2007 09:49 AM

Curious, on mine.

If in the looking at the dialer, if i push left on the dpad, i get my speed dial list, if i push right, i get call history.

Seems to be default, i have it with my normal dialer and my ripped touch dialer.

Peace

WR

I would love to know a fix for this issue also as I am running into this myself. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
