I just updated from a 6700 to a 6800. and am new to a lot of this. i have figured out most things but i cant figure out how to make opera mini work. i know its java. but thats where im stuck. i even tried the method for google maps java here. If some ne could help out i would be very greatfull.

From IE Mobile, enter mini.opera.com/beta and you download the High Memory version. It should install just fine after that.

It downloads a mimi.jad and has no idea what to do with it.

Thanks for the help.

Open up file explorer, find the file you downloaded and run it.

If you have it installed, this thread should be of help. :)

how does one install a .jad file? do I need a special proggy to install?

rijc99 08-28-2007 01:15 AM

1. Open Pocket Internet Explorer.
2. Enter this in your address bar. mini.opera.com/beta
3. Click High Memory Version.
4. Java should now automatically open.
5. Click Yes when the warning pops up. (Twice? Not positive because I don't remember at this moment and don't feel like reinstalling to be positive.)
6. Your program should now be in the JAVA app.
7. Install the shortcut.

Sorry storino03, if I repeated what you've said.

I am having the same problem.. anyone? PIE just downloads the mini.jad file to the phone but I can't execute it and nothing else happens. I'm on an Alltel PPC-6800

Any one have any luck with this yet? The alltel phone is runing wm5 if that helps.

holo 09-10-2007 02:29 PM

does the alltel wm5 have java? sounds like it doesn't, might have to wait for a wm6 release and hope it's in there....

you can however run opera mobile, which is a windows mobile native app (not java) - I'd rather run that anyways since it makes more sense to have a browser written directly for windows mobile not a generic java app ;)

Alltel 6800 with WM6 and it's still not working. I've researched but can't seem to find the answer. Any help would be appreciated.

KingGanon 10-14-2007 05:35 PM

go into java and have it search for the jad file that you downloaded. then let it install and run it from that menu

Caliph 10-14-2007 05:52 PM

Thanks. I don't believe that WM6 for the Alltel PPC doesn't have java. How would I find that?

ITistic 10-14-2007 06:39 PM

It doesn't. Search for Emertec JBed -- it's been posted here a few times. Once you install that you'll be able to run Java apps nicely. I use it to run Opera Mini.

EtherealRemnant 10-14-2007 08:33 PM

I'll never understand why people are so gungho about Opera Mini... you've got a FULL HTML browser on the phone and the option to get a few others... why use a program that doesn't run natively???
