Why is my EVDO constantly transmitting/receiving?
Is there a way to see what programs are causing the phone to constantly send/receive data? The little EVDO arrows are constantly lit up, and the phone is painfully slow.
I've closed all active apps in the memory area, and did a couple of soft resets as well, but it still keeps connecting and slowing down. It's pretty much driving me nuts. |
Which programs do you have installed? Let's take a look and we'll see what could be the cause.
Just list out all of your programs and we'll find the problem. |
Well suddenly it's acting normal again. I have a feeling it may be the HTC Home plugin having conflicts with Weatherpanel. The weather function of the HTC Home hasn't updated since I installed weatherpanel, so maybe it has something to do with that.
The apps I have on the phone itself are HTC Home Weatherpanel (newest version, whatever it is.) PocketCM Picture messaging plugin And I believe that's it. I have a few apps installed on the card, but they're all games, and the data was still going nuts with the card removed. |
Also noticed if you have the HTC Dialer App installed it keeps a constant connection.
|
Yeah, and WeatherPanel will automatically establish a connection until you change it in the settings menu.

htc dialer app does not keep a constant connection or send data all the time. it makes the data arrows always white. they still go away on disconnect, and it still disconnects as it always would. they just dont grey out when dormant.

No HTC Dialer app, and I have the "Establish connection" unchecked. Still don't know what happened, but hopefully it won't happen again.
Thanks everybody. |
Windows Live keeps a constant connection for me, but I have it set to automatically sync emails.

It's probably your Weatherpanel. The site has disappeared and the program keeps trying to "phone home". My phone started doing the same as yours last week. EVDO had constant "white arrows" and the battery was getting drained very quickly.
Try this fix and see if it helps. It worked for me. |
If tried2live has the *latest* version, then the fix will be incorporated already. However, please note that www.marsware.net is now back up and running, so old versions will be able to phone home successfully!
Windows Live might be the culprit. If it is set up as a *push* email client, then it will keep the data connection active. Try this...open the Connection manager and "kill" the data connection. This should make the data arrows disappear. Question - what does it look like after a soft reset? |
