stylus port is loose?
The otherday I removed my stylus from the port and I noticed it doesn't fit snug anymore. it comes out very easy. before when I used to remove it from the slot the force of the grip used to pull the stylus extending it to its full length. it's not loose enough to fall out because it still slightly locks into place. is this normal, is anyone else experiencing this problem?
|
hmm...did u try the other stylus that came in the box? if that fits, then use that. if not, then that's weird how your port got bigger. mine still fits fine, and I keep thinkin' what happened to you will happen to me. but so far so good.

Since the rubber tip of the stylus is what seems to lock the stylus in its port, its more likely the the tip has worn down vs. the port widening.

I had the same problem. Open your battery door, follow the side of the battery compartment on the stylus side you will see a small welded pce it has 4 slits in it. With the stylus out take a pair of small needle nose pliers and squeeze between the slits pushing the pce between the slits towards where the stylus would be. This will push the retainer back to its original shape. This should be a serviceable item at the Sprint Store, but I haven't tried

thanks for all of your responses. I tried the other stylus and no luck. I believe Big D5 is correct. i'll have to take it in to the sprint store and see what they can do for me.

I'm having the same issue. Just returned from the Sprint Service Center. Was told I was the 5th or 6th person with this issue. The tech said there was nothing they could do. My Mogul has a small piece of plastic that holds the stylus in place that has become streched out. Time to print out this thread and show the guy. Then maybe he will fix it.
|
Just returned from the service center. The tech was going to order a new phone. I asked if there was some way to apply a little heat to the piece that came loose and that was all it took. He said if it acts up again they will order a new Mogul.

i have found that the collapsing design of the stylus makes for problems, it seems to maybe get dirty and not expand so smoothly? my first stylus wont extend on its own so i switched to the second one, and now a week later its the same way.
|
I started having the same problem. Tried squishing the plastic stylus holder inside the battery compartment and it helped a little, but wasn't a fix, so I wedged a small piece of paper between the battery and stylus holder and it's holding as good as new.
|
The fix the tech applied to my phone failed. He ordered a new Mogul. Shud be in Tue.

I had the same problem. I just put a slight bend in the stylus and it works great.
|
when people come into our store we just bend them, it was a stupid fukin idea to put it in the bottom of the phone in the first place. the worst part is when you open the phone, there is a TON of room for a full size stylus in there ><
anyways, just bend it slightly and it will hold :violent2: |

haha the mogul design it great, I do have little bit problem of everybody complain but love it. Mine is loose too but aren't that bad that goes out automatic. To fix that problem I guess that you pull stylus out when you get home and not needs it, so whatever is it in there could breath or restore if it was rubber, its been there too long.

my port came almost completely loose, like one side popped up when the stylus was put in, so with the help of some thin tape and small pieces of paper, it now holds good enough to to uncollapse even my stiff stylus

You would think HTC would put something a little more sturdy inside instead of plastic that can pop out to hold the stylus in place. |
wow, it seems like this is going to be a common problem with the mogul. I haven't gotten around to talking mine in to the sprint store yet. i'm wondering if it will be a lost cause if it will only happen again. i'm on vacation next week so I may take it in then.

The problem with the stylus is in the tube where is fits in to the phone there is a piece of white plastic that creats the friction. This happened to mine so i took it apart and replaced the back housing with a salvage one from work. everything works fine now. you should be able to take it in to a sprint store and have them replace the back housing.

I was having the same issues. For me a new stylus does the trick. So maybe you could just get a new stylus or wrap a thin piece if black tape around the stylus to fatten it back up a bit.
|
same thing happened to me where my stylus feels "loose" and will not extend on its own from friction when I pull it out. i noticed that when this started, a thin, small piece of gray rubber fell out of the stylus slot...i believe this was the apparatus designed to hold the stylus firm and make it extend when pulled out. I want this fixed because it is a big PITA to pull out a stubby stylus and have to use both hands to extend it. at the sprint authorized repair facility, no one knows crap about the 6800 so i am sure it will be an experience getting someone to fix it/replace it. let me know if you all have any luck solving this problem or getting sprint and/or HTC to acknowledge that it even is a problem. seems like there should be some sort of recall...

this is a common problem for phones with stylist like this, for example T-mobile MDA, my friend lost all his stylists like that. ended up getting a free replacement, happened again, so he stuck some not foil but the other food wrap around the stylist as he was sticking it in the hole, never had an issue again, so he said.
