HTC P4000 (Canadian Mogul) WM6 upgrade!
 

The p4000 was release in Canada by Telus running WM5. HTC has released a ROM upgrade to flash wm5 to wm6. it is located here:

will this work on the mogul? it should have the full rom of wm6 in the upgrade.

Will there be any obstacles in my way to program this into my mogul? I want to give this a try since i am using AMP'd service on my sprint mogul.

@Maku: The Mogul is already running WM6...

i know, i just dont want the sprint restrictions that i believe i have on the phone. i just want to test it out so that if that update is a full rom with wm6 then we can do some kind of kitchen roms. I could be on the wrong track, please advise :)

This is great news for Telus users!

However, currently there is no way to flash a different carrier's rom to any Titan device (mogul/P4000). This is due to CID restrictions. That means this rom will not be useful for Sprint devices at this time.

I am interested in dumping this rom to see what might be diff with this and the sprint version though.

Do you think this would help in developing a wm6 rom for the 6700? I just sold mine (to subsidize my p4000), but I know there are alot of folks that are waiting for a way to port wm6 on the 6700.

Nope this won't help get wm6 on the 6700. That doesn't mean it can't happen, but good people have been working hard on that for a while without success. This rom will still be the same/similar to the sprint rom in core OS components and the Sprint rom has not helped for that either. Different drivers are need for Apache that won't be in the Titan.

Anyone with a P4000 that plans to flash this and already knows MTTY and Pdocread please post an info 8 and pdocread -l before and after if you can. That might be good to have info for the TITAN partion info (bad blocks etc.). We still should get a good WM5 dump from a telus device if possible though and it looks like it might be tough as the one i've seen had lots of bad blocks. I can help in chat room when i'm around if someone wants to try this stuff. There is also some info on what i did in my section of the TITAN directory on the ftp.

Scroll to the bottom of the page where it says:

"Download Windows Mobile 6 for the HTC P4000"

It looks like this updates the radio rom for the device. If anyone is familiar with USB monitor (http://www.hhdsoftware.com/usbmon.html) please try to capture this RUU traffic. There are instructions on how to do this on the XDA site for the hermes i think. With this info we might be able to see what the radio bootloader commands are (and password) so that we can try updating that area manually :wink:

This would make a HUGE file and you'll need to scan through the thing to find the bootloader commands as it isn't very condusive to transfer and open the full txt file. Hopefully someone that sees this will already be familiar and willing to give it a try.

When u Uploaded this ROM after says 8 Hours the File was Missing from HTC Site and Again it Reappear I suspect that They Might have Uploaded Wrong and Unlocked Radio ROM or CE Image Before

Please Give Us All Version that You can see in Boot Screen and as You are the First Person to Flash on 25th then Please Upload the Original File Release Exactly on 25th and not on 26th

Ok can someone with WM6 Telus rom try this program WM6 Voip and see if it works. It's to allow the built in VoIP SIP client to work with any SIP proxy. When installed on my Sprint Mogul it doesn't work but it works fine on my jasjar. I think Sprint is blocking it and if it works on the Telus rom then I'll have to work at getting that on my Mogul

K. I'm a Telus user that was running wm5. I did the upgrade last night. It is more pretty. But it is also loaded up with more crap i'm not going to use. With all programs off it has 22.45MB free. Not bad. It comes with an external GPS config app, Windows update app, lame Customer Feedback app, cool Sliding sound, Storage card encryption app, Windows live. The calculator is still pretty lame. My Active sync works better now. Had problems before. I'm not sure if thay have fixed all the bluetooth problems. I still can't send picture text messages. Only over email. It's build is 17745.0.2.3. Does that mean i'm running AKU2.3? If so... Is there a AKU i should upgrade to? Any recomendations for a P4000 (Titan) running WM6?

There's really no AKUs with WM6 since it was just released. I'm sure there may be some minor version differences between other devices, but nothing big enough to worry about other WM6 AKUs.

Also, even if they were available, there's no way to reflash to custom ROMs on the Titans just yet. You basically updated to the newest available AKU by updating your ROM.

For comparison purposes, you are way past WM5 AKU 2.3 if that was the question.

Thanx for the info. I'm a bit of a noob. My friend has the UTStarcom 6700 and was tring to get me to flash my phone with his Kirvin AKU3.5. Glad i didn't . (brick anyone?)

i doubt it would brick your phone if you tried running the kirvin 3.5. it would just not let you do it.

Are there any bluetooth problems with the WM6 upgrade?

It shows that there's a today plugin installed, yet nothing shows up on my today screen... i don't think it works

no problems here... I have 3 different BT headsets I've tried too... (Jabra BT620s, BT320s and Plantronics M2500)

Maybe we can use the bluetooth stack off the 4000 on the mogul and see if it improves things with the headsets.

Wow. So patience works!

After scouring every post on this forum for weeks, I haven't checked in a week or two. Now this!

The ironic thing is that my phone had a serious melt-down about a week ago and I had to do a hard reset. Today I spent about 3 hours restoring all of my software and settings. Wish I had read about this news first.

I'm going to hold tight for a little while and wait for reports on how much better (or worse) this upgrade makes things.

I've tried about 10 times to download the update and can't finish each time. File is always corrupted. Any other link to dowload the update please?

Since I upgraded my ROM, I notice that my Bluetooth will spontaneously turn itself off. This will happen during conversation, when I turn the phone off or while it's on and in use in any other fashion. The quality of connection is great for reception in general but I've noticed if the phone is more than 10ft away or when I'm driving, I get static.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

I have really enjoyed the upgrade thus far. It was easy to do (no corrupt file like above poster). I like the look of WM6. I've had zero problems after the upgrade. One note: WM6 does take more RAM to run. Nothing noticable though (approximately 2 MB more). I do not use bluetooth often enough to confirm the previous posters' problem but when I have used bluetooth, i've had no problems.

In my opinion, it's worth the upgrade :)

I have the HTC P4000 and am having all kinds of problems with it, have been wanting to toss it since I purchased it last year. It seems to be so slow, freezes all the time, and rarely to I receive calls. Question is, is this b/c of the settings Telus has installed on the HTC? and if I do unlock the HTC will it still recognize my service provider? Can I still make phone calls and have the added advantage of getting all their crap off my phone?

I noticed I miss phone calls when I'm using data... for some reason it doesn't allow calls to come through if your xing data via 1x. I always turn off data when I'm in 1x area so I can get calls... no-data program will do that for you easily

Hey welcome to PPC geeks. Take a look a a few of the treads for the Titan. As it is your phone. There are many new updates that have been modified to work on our Telus p4000, for example GPS and there are also many custom ROMs out there that get rid of all the useless sh** from the manufacturers. If you have any question feel free to PM me, Im in no way a super geek but I have been playing around with ROMs and updates for a while and have run to problems that I have fixed.
