GPS problems after MR1/2 update

Here's the problem.

I was going to return my XV6800 (Verizon) and get a Touch Pro. I was informed that I'd have to wait a few weeks before they would send me a brand new Touch Pro. But I didn't know this before I had updated to MR2.

I undid the Verizon lockdown on the GPS (Qpst, etc...) and can get google maps to recognize/use the GPS (valhalla GPS cab... etc...) So long as I'm using Verizon's MR1.

Now, when I flash using a custom ROM, nothing can find GPS satellites. Not Google maps, not LIVE search, not the HTC GPS tool. Flash back to MR1, and apply the valhalla cab, and they can all use the GPS chip just fine.

Google maps sits at "Seeking GPS satellites (0)... forever, and eventually says that I should go outside.

Anyone have any ideas? (Cross-posted to xda-developers)

GPS does not work after going custom from MR1. Verizon locks gps down in MR1. YOU MUST roll back to a pregps rom then unlokc then go custom.

That guide should help. I had to do it when I got a replacment. If the issues continue, make sure your PRI stays at 1.35.xx you can check it by going to Settings>System>Device Imformation. Also, PLEASE use the search feature before posting a thread on an issue like this. It is a well-known issue that has been sicussed several times. Anyways, be sure to follow directions so you don't end up with a brick...

Cool! Thanks.

I followed the instructions on those two guides, have 1.35 PRI, and can get the GPS tool to see a few satellites, but Google Maps still sits at the "Seeking GPS Satellites..." Screen forever.

What gives?

It can take forever. For the first tries I would set my phone standing up on my computer desk (really tall). After that the locks are great with Google Maps. It is a shame though that Verizon does this to us...

I find that google maps is very slow as well. However, I downloaded the trial version of Google Navigator. It locks much quicker. If you still choose to use another program, once locked with Navigator, you will lock quickly after that.

Navigator seems like a very slick program probably worth the $50 dollars for the full version.

I followed the two guides to the letter. I'm now on Radio 3.42.02, and PRI 1.35._002, and a ROM Version of 3.08.666.1

The HTC tool sees ~8 Satellites, but will not get a lock (nearly completely drained a battery trying to get a lock)

Google maps cannot find any satellites, nor can Windows LIVE search.

Nevermind. Everything works perfectly. I think the problem was actually on my end (as in I'm dumb).

I was trying to prime the GPS outside, yes... but in an alley barely 25' wide. Surrounded on 3 sides by tall brick/cement buildings. The GPS couldn't get a lock because of signal ghosting.

Will this information work for the XV6850 as well?

No look in the touch pro section for the verizon gps fix.
