Turning 6800 data off

My 6800 is on AlltelU (Prepaid). I only want to use wifi on it and nothing else. How do I turn the data completely off. I'm losing money out of my account lol cause it keeps connecting without my knowledge or something.

There is an cab you can load when you cook your kitchen that will allow you to set it. I am not sure the name and I just reloaded my computer. I am re-downloading the Kitchen. The description is about what you are looking for. something data is the name if I remember. Sorry, I will post more info in the morning when all the downloads are completed.

You can also delete the #777 connection or go into the EPST and change your UID or Password to keep it from connecting.

I had to remove HTC_CM_GUARDIAN.LNK file from the WINDOWS\STARTUP

Then deleted the #777, it never returns.

I don't know if this will help you, but this is my experience with Verizon. I know nothing about Alltel.

I just recently purchased my 6800 off of ebay. While activating cell service, I was given the option of purchasing a data plan or a "pay as needed" data plan, which is what I chose. Then, I called Verizon to ask for a data block, which they happily did.

The phone did try to connect to data ocassionally via #777, so I called Verizon and they took me through the steps to delete #777 from my ppc.

Hope that helped.

you can only do that on a custom ROM. the stock will bring it back up after a few minutes

That didn't work. I don't know much about phones. How would I go about doing the custom ROM thing?

You can also try calling Alltel to shut off internet access from their end to ensure you won't get charged. I know this was an option from both Sprint and Verizon. I'd imagine its probably some new regulation or something that forces them to do so, but Alltel is being folded into Verizon anyway, so it can't hurt to try.
