Touch screen messing up

When my phone is closed the touch screen will not work but it will work when it is slid open. Anyone have a clue on what could cause this?

Is that in the screen part or the keyboard part?

It's been a few weeks since I've opened up a 6800 (been spending most of my time dealing with Wizards) but I'm pretty sure the connector in question connects to the main board on the keyboard side of the device.

I took the phone apart and everything was intact and I double checked. No luck still.
