i want to use my mogul as an mp3 player but every time the screen turns off so does the music. is there anyway around this other than telling the screen to never turn off?

Most of the media players (including the WMP) should have a mode where they don't let the device sleep while playing, and they can turn off the display (vs hitting the power button.)

if your not part of the solution, your part of the problem... i know ive done this in the past too, but since my "controversial thread" everyone will see changes happening with me slowly...

atleast point people in the right direction, then suggest they search better here or google... otherwise your just makin a post for no valid reason at all...as many people pointed out to me in the past... WE make our own choice to go in and read a thread, dont like the title, dont go in then..u dont have to be a jerk..ive been readin multiple posts like this from you today and lately

so now, to the OP, s2u2 coupled with s2p(slide to play if unfamilar) will allow you to use an mp3 player AND have the light off... this is the only way i know off...

Are you for real? Seriously, I know quite a few people who have chosen to use the Ignore feature on you. I am going to put it on right now. I strive to help people here, when a quesiton that can easily be answered by searching is asked, I tell them to search. You are just someone who wants to start an argument... ...getting back to the subject at hand. The stock Windows Media player has the ability to turn off the screen when assigned to a hardware key, it is just not activated by default. Go into options in WMP and assign a hardware key (I use the center of the d-pad) to the screen. Your hardware keys will still work for volume and track control (up, down, left, right) but the touchscreen and backlight will be off. Pressing the assigned hardware key or the power key will turn it back on. I use WMP with bluetooth headphones. I turn the screen off so I can put the phone in my pocket without worrying about the battery draining too fast or the touchscreen getting messing up anything.

Gosh, someone just give the damn answer already. I use Pocket Player and it will play with the screen on or off.

Like arparent said, the best way is to map the screen off to a button. This may be done through the player or by using a third party app such as AEButton Plus The other option is to get a media player that turns the screen off automatically, such as S2P

You can shortcut a button in TCPMP to turn off the screen instead of the phone. I used to do it on my Mogul because it would skip while playing streaming music if I put it in standby. I set a button to just turn off the screen and it worked a lot better.

seriously i think it's interesting to read these threads cause I might have the same problem in the future, and it would be nice if the answer was in it instead of it abruptly ending in "go do a search" why don't you just ignore the thread then instead of policing us?

skee, try pocketplayer for a day. i use s2p also but pp is really nice. free also.
