i tried flashing first time today and boy did it waste so many hours. i wish someone would mention that the RUU might not exit properly and that would be the real reason why i can't connect to the phone to flash it again.

anyways i installed R4R rom from scottcrosler's site and i followed GAMedics FAQ on how to unlock and upgrade the radio. I am running OPL2.4 and 3.35 radio. When i turned it on it resetted on its own and configured itself i hope that wasn't the Sprint? I thought this ROM was a Verizon ROM.

When i dial out it says have my credit card ready. does this mean i need a new AKey?

i think this is different from the fail to authenticate message.

Oh god. You probably ran a Sprint ROM because you don't search and read. You probably also let the Sprint customizations run and now you are going to need to learn how to "refurbish" the phone imformation. This is what happens when you rush through and don't search enough. That guide tells you to RESET before those customizations run. Start using the search feature an/or Google.

Do I sound like I am mad? Well, it's not just you, it's a combination of all the other n00bs who dn't search and read...

Yes it is. You have to revert all the PRI and PRL and Internet settings. I never have had to do it, because I am careful :)

whoa whoa whoa

we all have to start from somewhere. i went to R4R's site and downloaded the ROM there and it never mentioned what i had to do. i flashed it and left to do other things while waiting. it never even prompted me to proceed past the FAQ's stated configuration.

people follow the guides but the guides don't cover everything.

thanks for the response. does it matter what i tell verizon?

i think i read in xda wiki that you can revert the phone settings as well? is that easier?

His EPST settings and a key are the problems and non will be fixed by flashing a verizon stock rom.

so this is different from AKey? i read that updating the GPS Radio requires a new AKey regardless. I know I have to call that one in, but accidentally programming the phone to Sprint how can calling in help me?

The A-Key and upgrading to a GPS radio are irrealivent to this situation. You don't even need a new A-Key when upgrading. Just do *22899. You can't just flash a Verizon ROM and let it set it up. You will need to edit the ESPT like stated above, instructions are around, search.

And yes everyone has to start somewhere, but, there a how-to guides around to avoid problems like this. Had you started on your own, it would have been a different story...

i want to call verizon but i am paranoid that they will nix my warranty for programming the phone

Then you shouldn't have messed with your phone. Live and learn. But really they can't tell you did anything to your phone. The same thing happens when you hard reset the phone so hint hint and that can be what you tell them.

you guys are telling me that i can't flash it back to stock? but how come in this thread it says that is how you fix it after being Sprintized.

i think it also says that in XDA Wiki. I went back and Read GAMedic's and it says for verizon users with new radio rom you have to call for AKey but you guys are saying that's the same as *228 program?

shouldnt toy with things that void your warranty then, if your gonna need it fixed someday..

im guessin your gonna wana be able to get a free replacement or just be able to pay the deductable if it cant be fixed too huh?

Ga's guide was from before MR1 came out. You DO NOT NEED to call Verizon for a new A-Key. They will have you dial *22899. Seriously, you should be toying around with things that are not supported by your carrier if you aren't gonna take time to read and be careful. Good luck :)

not to say i'm not thankful but i can't help feeling that you guys are all trying to be smug and told you so. of course no one should be messing with this and that unless they know what they are doing-what's the point of throwing a cliche at me. You guys are making me out to be the first person in history to botch a flash.

I would reflash to stock VZ rom, hard reset, and then call vz and let them know that you had to hard reset because it was acting funny and you though it would help, and now you have no internet.

A small white lie, but in the ballpark of the truth.

No worries man. We've all done something where we wish we had that wayback machine for the do-over. In the grand scheme of life, this has to be pretty low on the list.

Actually. He should look for "how to revert to PRI 1.35.002" Let those customizations run and such. Then call and get them to fix it, or deactivate your phone and put an old one on. Then, reactivate the 6800 and dial *22899, DO NOT DIAL *228 and select options, even if they tell you to. It will mess up the PRI, just take my advice and you should be good to go.

I agree with calling VZW. I had this SAME issue once and after reading the posts I called VZW and straight out told the CSR I needed an A Key. Sometimes when you do something like that the CSR knows you know a bit more than the average joe and just cuts the chase. But I do agree you need to call and get a new A Key for provisioning and then you can update the PRL through *228

as a lesson i will stay away from R4R roms as i think they are not Verizon and i'll just play in the kitchen although does buildos have manila 2d?

just for future reference i went ahead and installed Reloaded 1.3.4 and noticed after flashing it started up and prompted for a configuration. i want to say i knew better and i quickly hard resetted. now it's up and running but the M2D is not working. I wonder if that has to do with it.

i'm assuming that config message was going to sprint my phone?


update: great my phone is f-ed again. i can receive text but i can't authenticate now. i don't know what i did wrong again.

This is what i did after restoring the phone to stock with data and voice.
1. install OPL2.4 through USB
2. while still in bootloader i installed Radio 3.45.50 through USB this time when it rebooted i hard reset to bootloader
3. installed Reloaded 1.3.4 (M2D is not working)
4. when it booted up and said configuration will begin in 3 sec i hard reseted
5. i install verizon carrier cab and it resets
6. i *228 1 program it resets

I'm going to stock it again and wait for further instructions this is so annoying.

i just read on wiki XDA that you cannot update to 3.42.50 straight from stock?

is that my problem? i have to go to 3.35 first and then use a microSD to finish the upgrade?

For my first flashing I used olipro 2.40, and then went from stock radio to the 3.42.40 radio via sd. I then took gamedic's verizon txt file based off his rom, pulled it in to ppckitchen's buildos modified it and flashed without a problem. Later I flashed to the 3.42.50 radio via sd and am still working fine. I believe I saw that manilla in ppckitchen. Why don't you give that a try? The only time I needed a new a-key was when I flashed to MR1. Every custom flash I've tried so far has not need a new a-key or me needing to re-input any of my vzw carrier settings (which I copied down just to be safe).
