Can someone help me or point me in the right direction. I have xv6800 with verizon. I have the upgraded rom from UTStarcom (wm6.1). Ive been searching everywhere.. I want to use my xv6800 as a modem for my laptop. i got VZ Access manager on laptop, and mobile link on xv6800. Do I need something else? I open mobile link, and hit start, then connect it to laptop. Laptop does not recognize it and VZ Access manager does not either. any help would be appritiated... thanks...

Why would you use an official ROM? ESPECIALY being on Verizon... I don't have much experience with teathering, but flash to a custom ROM...

I used Verizon's stupid access manager for about a week before I flashed over to a custom ROM when I first got my titan. I had to call customer service and they did a few things on their end to get it working. At first it would never get an internet connection then it would only tether at 1x speeds. It did take a few calls to get it working.

Honestly a custom ROM and native WinMo internet connection sharing is easier and faster But I understand some not wanting to go custom.

First, if you can get activesync to work and not VZaccess, go to start/settings/connections/usb to pc and check the "enable advanced network functionality" check box. If it is checked, then uncheck it. Then try connecting the phone using modem link.

Disclaimer: *I am using a different ROM and your options may be different, but the key is the selection in the usb to pc window.*

kdj67f, thank you that appeared to work, but i got a verizon screen that said they want to charge me to use it. Thats CRAP!!!! I already have unlimited data plan why should i have to pay more to use the same internet. will i have to pay if i use custom rom?

There are ways around paying the tethering fees. PM me for info. Yes you must subscribe to broadband access or whatever the new infrastructure mandates. WinMo has to see these certain reg values to know how to connect. ICS is the way to go.

FWIW I still have the tethering fee and broadband access on my account to make it legal. I have been burned before so its just a warning.

There is a thread called 'Warez vs Teathrering" right now. All I gota is I think the poster has way too much time on his hands to be discussing something as stupid as that... You might wanna try WMWiFiRouter if you don't wanna pay. I think we pay the porvider enough money to be able to use this service already...

yea i seen that thread, i pay for unlimited data. "UNLIMITED DATA" what do they care if its going to my phone or threw my phone to my laptop..

In my own defense, I pay for tethering and can show how to make it work even with VZaccess manager. I definitely recommend the tethering package as it has covered my own azz in years past. No Warez links or anything illegal to discuss for anyone. I understand the terms.
