Phone lock help needed

Hello all. This is my first topic, though I want to say thanks to all for all the help and info this site has provided to me!

I did some searching and found nothing, so I hope that this is not a duplicate thread.

I am having some issues with the phone lock and I can't find the settings to turn it off anywhere. This started happening when I setup an Outlook account for my work e-mail in which I had to setup a pin/password. I didn't know what it was for at the time, so I didn't think anything of it. Is it possible that my Exchange Server requires the phone to lock due to the sensitivity of the emails?

If it comes down to it, I will have to do a hard reset, but will this keep my contacts?

I can take some screenshots of the lock page if somebody can recognize it. Any help would be great, as I'm getting tired of having to unlock my phone every 5 minutes of non use! Thanks in advance.

Its not the system lock that is under settings is it?

No, I believe it has something to do with Outlook. I did a search on the phone's help and found that I could login to my outlook web access and my mobile phone is registered on there. I removed it from the list but the lock is still there.

I think I'm going to just do a hard reset. Will my contacts stay as is?

If your work email is exchange, your company probably has a policy that requires a PIN. This can be enforced by an exchange host (at one point, 1and1 hosting was supposedly doing this to customers on hosted exchange accounts). If it's policy, there is nothing you can do. Hard reset will "fix" it, but you will lose your contacts from your phone (not your exchange account, though), but the moment you set up your exchange account again you'll have to start using a PIN again.

If it's not exchange, I have no idea. Either way, ask your IT folks about it.

Before you do a hard reset and loose all your contacts, download PPCPim backup. This is a free PIM back up and will allow you to save all your contacts, and PIM data (emails texts etc.) to your card
And its FREE

Yeah I believe it has something to do with my Outlook. If it is the case, I'll just get my personal email on the phone :) Thanks for the link Darkness, I picked up the program and now have all of my stuff backed up. I will give the hard reset a try.

Did this work? I removed my work email from this because it was too much of a hassle and I didn't really end up needing it on there anyways. But now I can't get the password off it won't let me uncheck the box?

Well just decided what the hell and hard reset it after backing up my stuff. Worked like a charm.

One question I have regarding this.

Can you enable the lock feature without setting a password?

i.e. touch here to unlock or something like that, rather than having to enter a pw every time...
