Mogul Runs Slow - Any suggestions to speed up ?
 

Hi All -

I have a Sprint Mogul that I am learning to use as a new PDA. Over the last few months I have been frustrated with the speed when switching from program to program(i.e. reading e-mail and need to switch to contacts). My phone seems to take too long. I do not any extra program with the exception of Pocket Express which came with it. I did install 6.1 when I got the phone. I look thru threads but did not see anything.

Any Advice ?

Get either MemMaid or SKTools. Both clean up all the debris from the internet (e.g., temp files, cookies, cache, etc.). Both will also do a lot of housecleaning and tweaking. Either one will do the job...but I use both because they have different features, etc.

Hard reset (be sure to backup with PIMBackup from dotfred.net first to your SD card!), install nueROM3, etc.

First off, an offical ROM will never give your device the best performance. A few reasons, the carriers load it with useless trash to try and get you to use their paid services. The second, the ROMs boot up with less RAM.

Like Obvious said, flash a custom ROM. DCD, nueROM3 and the kitchens have more RAM than stock WM6.1 You will notice more speed and stability.

Another thing, like coz said, with Windows Mobile you have to clear out Internet history, cookies, cache, and so on. Usally people who are used to a cheap phone, like an iPhone, don't understand that in order to keep a great running machine and have lotsa features, you have to do some clean-up every so often.

SKTools does an amazing job of cleaning and has Shadow Services which run in the background freeing up RAM. My Mogul has never run better.
