Wifi "Off" Button to be mapped like Treo's Vibrati

I tried reading a few threads, didn't see this idea posted anywhere...

had strange dream last night. in it I owned a 6800 and switched the wifi button, which through someones registry hacks, turned all sounds of the device off BUT leaving vibration enabled, much like the nifty switc on the treos (which I loved and dearly miss). is this possible? anybody have any ideas or thought about tinkering with it? if you can reassign the button, but the registry idea isn't reasonable, perhaps someone could code a gui that switches all sounds off but vibration enabled and reassign the button to the program? if its a flaky idea don't curse me, it was just a dream :)

I know its not the same thing, but you can use AE Button Plus (awesome app) to assign this to most of the special function hard buttons on your 6800. For example, I have my comm manager button (one under power) to launch the comm manager on a single click. I have it set to toggle the sound/vibrate mode if I press and hold it.

I checked and AE Button plus will not remap the wifi slider, so you would need to choose another button like I did.

So how exactly does this work? The Treo's switch would mute everything and enable the vibrator on its own without needing to click or tap anything else. Going by the description and screenshots of your app it looks like the button would launch the app and then you choose the profile. Did I just read that incorrectly? Even if it's a button and not the Wifi switch, I'd love to just press a button to mute everything and enable the vibrator, and then press that button again to turn the sound back on.

The way I do it with AE Button Plus is a 1 button solution. I hold down the assigned button (comm. Manager in my case) and it mutes sounds and turns on vibrations. I hold it down again and it turns it back to normal ringer mode.

AE button will work but it is NOT free.... my app on the other hand is free ;-)
thats exactly what it does what you want.. i have written 2 scripts included in that file... the first called vibrate does EXACTLY what the treo switch did, tap it once it mutes all sounds and sets the phone to vibrate mode, push it again and it returns all sounds.

the picture you saw is the second app called vibrate with options, this one allows you to do more it allows you to select different profiles

i guess i should make that more clear in my other post.

AE Button Plus may not be free, but it will function with almost 100% functionality without registration. Technically though, you are only supposed to use it for 14 days if you don't plan on registering even though it will continue to work. For $7 you get a few added features, but those are not needed for what I mentioned above.

I registered the app to support the developers, but its not required to retain functionality.

AE Button Plus works beautifully with Mortscripts as well, which I have done on my 700wx and now on my 6800.

Here are some pics of what it looks like when AE Button Plus is switching. You can disable the notification popups as well if you like.

so i guess its up to him what to use, just trying to help, my program also includes notifications and works 100% of the time

no point in starting an arguement u like AE button ill use the small script i wrote... i dont need all the options of ae button especailly since i know it just eats up ur program memory

to each there own

I do like your option and its nicely done. Just giving options like you said.
