You probably need to kill the process since it gets started when the phone boots up. Get MemMaid or Sk Tools and kill the process, then try to delete it.

is there a way to set wifi as a priority for connecting to the internet and keeping the modem connection as a backup if there's no wifi signal?

I'd have to look for the extact setting, but under HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting
you can find the option to show or hide the "Mode of Operation" setting under Phone Control Panel and Services. It will give you the choice of hybrid (both), 1X only, or EVDO only.

Thank you for the tip on getting rid of the Guardian file. Once I deleted it I was able to detele the default settings on the phone as modum etc. I only use wifi and it was a pain in the foot dealing with the trying to connect issue. Again thanks for your assistance.
