My 6800 will not get a data connection!
 

I just got my new Titan set up on my Alltel account, and I can make and recieve calls, but I cant connect to a data connection. I've gone and done all I know to do, by setting up the modem connection that dials #777, but It wont connect. It says, "Cannot connect for an unknown reason..." Blah Blah Blah... What am I doing wrong?

my old 800w used to do that(u mite not wanted to hear that word old, as in replaced) BUT, as long as its still stock, since u just got it hard reset, u cud use sprite backup to back up ya stuff

addition: are u roaming?? that mite be it..whats ur PRI version

What the heck!!! I called the number, and it asked for my 10 digit number, so I gave it, and I said the number wasn't in their system! Just to be sure, I called my house with my cell phone and it is connected fine. :{ What does all this mean!?!!11

wow, didint expect that, idk..mayb yearn fat fingered a number or sumthin...but when u got that i soft reset first....if still no worky...go to start/settings/connections/connections/advanced/under my ISP tap edit/make sure power vision is checked(now if alltel is different, then u wanna make sure ur selected network dials #777) and being that its new, there shudn't b anything else there, so if so, hell tap and hold choose delete it..u just want #777.....hopefully that'll get u in the right direction

I've tried soft resets, hard resets, ROM upgrades... everything. It just doesn't work. Is there anybody out there with any Idea what I can do? Furthermore, I wanna know why calling that alltel number makes alltel not recognize my number! Help everyone!

the number I gave you is the number Alltel gives you when they mail you a new phone. it activates your phone and allows you to have a data connection.

Already tried all the updates, and I think the reason the automated thing didn't recognize my number is that customer support is closed, so the automated thing is, too.

*228 option 2 wouldn't hurt too. Baring that, go through the connection settings (Start->Settings->Connections->Connections->Manage Existing Connections, and check the user/pass settings.

It will be 1234567890@alltel.net and password alltel.

I had the sam issue with mine through Sprint. They had me go to the key pad and hit ##3282# and it took about 2 minutes but then I got my data connection finally.

When I had the 6800 I would do a soft reset after I put in info for the #777 and it would work after that

Well, I called the number yearn gave me today and they still don't recognize my number... and I'm about to call alltel and see if they can activate data manually.

Well, I spent 30 minutes with tech support, who I finally got to, only to reach the conclusion that my phone can't get a data connection. If anyone wants an un-branded HTC PPC6800 that can't get data, but they think they can fix, I'll sell it for $130 OBO.

I hate to say it, but I think there is something going on here that he's missing. Ashgfu, can you PM me a pic of your Device Information screen? I'll troubleshoot it on my end, and see if it's a setting issue, or something else. I'll do what I can, and it's usually more than TS can do, considering that I have no qualms about discussing unstock ROMs.


EDIT: Wait...what ROM and radio versions are you using, and is your WiFi turned on? Second one is a "duh" type question, but I just want to narrow things down.

I had this same problem when i changed from the Treo 700 to a mogul. The data plan t bhat they have you on is the wrong kind. It will not work on a smart phone. u will have to call customer solutions and let them know to switch it

You are going to have to go into your ESPT settings and probably change some things. I just had this problem...maybe not even an hour ago and it was a long process but i got it fixed.

You have to dial ##778 on your phone and press send. When it has the 3 selections, you must hit "Edit". Now you have an unlock code you must enter. Normally it is 000000 for an Alltel phone (but my phone was unlocked for either Sprint or Alltel so i had a special one...got it off ebay..:silent: ). If you can get in, you have to change your settings (i believe your M.IP stuff). I can elaborate a little more later but i have to leave for a meeting, srry. Ill be back on later today.

it is conected just ignore and put im the address again and it will pop up
