I'm a little leary about using custom roms... I'm terrified of bricking my phone. This thing is my line to the world. It's my only phone, and I can't exactly afford another one. Yes, I have insurance, but even the $50 deductable is a little much for me at the moment. (money has gotten super tight).

I also have no idea how to flash to a custom rom... i would imagine it's not as simple as when I updated to the stock WM6.1

Look for GaMedic's thread and then after you're comfortable pay a visit to nuerom.com. Also if you get on IRC any get on irc.freenode.net #ppcgeeks and a lot of us hang there and can answer questions. Besides I have the same phone and mine is running it just fine.

If you ever do get a taste for being a chef or even just a curiosity in how to do it, go here for the best guide on how to unlock and cook your own custom ROM for the 6800. It's the GaMedic tutorial referenced above.. Actually, after you unlock your device, updating to a new ROM is as easy as upgrading to the stock WM 6.1... When you upgraded, you were installing a new ROM..
