Simultaneous Voice and Data...
I don't get it, everyone/everywhere I read, it says that EVDO and Voice can't happen....This must be a limitation of the phone itself, I just did a test...with my 2 phones both with the same E*N....I made a call with one, and went online with the other and it worked fine....I wonder now if there's something that could be hacked to do both...

Re: Simultaneous Voice and Data...
Everything I read talked about data and voice on the SAME phone at the same time is not possible with EVDO. With EVDV, it is possible, but Sprint decided not to go with EVDV.....

Re: Simultaneous Voice and Data...
Well, I have US Cellular, and while using my Treo to make a call, and my Titan to get online...it worked fine. I wonder if this is a network limitation where US Cellular has such a setup with their network and are waiting for EVDV capable phones....or if it was a fluke...

Re: Simultaneous Voice and Data...
No you have two active phones, which is illegal like that BTW.

Re: Simultaneous Voice and Data...
Yes yes, I know.
What I'm trying to find out is... Is it the phone that dictates whether or not data and voice are simultaneous? or the network? If it is the phone, is it specifically the chip or a setting? |
Re: Simultaneous Voice and Data...
My understanding is it in the network, not the phone.

Re: Simultaneous Voice and Data...
Hmmmm that opens up possibilities.

Re: Simultaneous Voice and Data...
Yeah it's the network. It's a limitation of EVDO. As was mentioned before EVDV fixes that.

I believe that GSM can have both data and voice active at the same time. Here is a wikipedia article that explains it all... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evdo |
Re: Simultaneous Voice and Data...
So I'm assuming that US Cellular has EVDV since it did work?
