Will Sprint replace 6700 with 6800?

Question for you guys. I have a Sprint PPC-6700 with the insurance plan. I dropped it the other day and the D-pad pretty much is shot. The phone buttons are having problems as well. This happened before and I was able to get it replaced with another 6700. What I want to know is if I wait until June(or October, whenver the 6800 comes out) and take it in the will they replace it with a 6800?

Sonin66 05-18-2007 04:32 PM

most likely yes

jamesus 05-18-2007 04:48 PM

That a hard question to answer definitely, btu I would also say yes. It really depends on how you phrase it and where you go. If you make it seem like a hardware failure (not that you dropped it), then it is more likely that they will replace it. Not sure if Lockline still has any 6700 in its inventory, but you might have a better chance taking it to a store when it is released.

rawr 05-18-2007 08:29 PM

i'd say it would depend on whether or not there are any 6700s left in the swap pool

shivers 05-18-2007 11:07 PM

I thought someone mentioned recently that the 6700 EOL was extended until July.

colonel 05-19-2007 12:37 AM

Well, the rumor is that Sprint is still stocking 6700s, but waiting till the 6800 is released so they do not have to upgrade everyone that comes in with a broken 6700. Asurion will probably have replacements for quite a while.

Big D5 05-19-2007 08:02 AM

Lockline has the 6700 available now NIB, I was told that there will be no more refurbished 6700 coming from Lockline (Lockline Rep) so when the new ones are gone the replacement will be what is available, 700wx/6800. Once the 6800 is available I will wait till I hear that Lockline has run out of the new 6700's than I will have a sudden catastrophic failure on my current 6700. If you have insurance on your 6700 I would go ahead and pay the $50 and get a NIB 6700 to hold me over till the release has passed, just MHO.

Dmunkey 05-19-2007 03:59 PM

To answer the question It would depend on whats in stock and if your phone is considered dead on arrival. Usually if the phone is dead it will be swapped out in the store with stock on hand. if its still working then usually a phone is ordered. As for insurance they have been swapping people out for 6700s and 700w depending on whats in stock.
So if there are no 6700s in stock and not orderable from the wharehouse then yes it would be swapped for a 6800.
If it were me I wouldn't wait since there hasn't been an official release date given for the release of the phone so you might be waiting till oct.

Hope this helps

the 6800 swap is a go (here in the "D")

hey all...

i actually went down to a sprint store yesterday to do 2 things. 1) get a new back cover for my sprint phone, and 2) see if they would switch me out into a new (or refurb) 6700 as i have done before. i have insurance so swaps have not cost me anything.

the issue with my 6700 is that the usb charger is just not doing its job, its loose or something and i cant even activesinc now. the woman helping me didnt find an issue at first but after some convincing she was like ok. well we dont have anymore 6700's to switch you into, but i can get you into a treo 700wx. i was like hecks now...she was like well it is the only phone remotely comparable to the 6700 and said that it really doesnt equal it. then, out of the blue she says "well i could switch you into the 6800 when it comes out at the end of the month, but you would have to wait". i acted as if i had no idea what the 6800 was and said "oh really, whats the 6800???? ) she then explained to me what it was and "convinced" me to wait for it. she said that she should have them fully in stores by about july 18th. i was like ok, i guess i could wait for it..... she then told me to just charge it in the cradle and be patient...and that i would be able to swap into a 6800 when they have them in the store, NICE!!! :D

so from the tech/rep who was assisting me (who happened to be very cute might i add), i believe that it is possible to swap from 6700 to 6800 and i plan on waiting to get mine. just under 2 months of waiting wont hurt me, especially for a snazzy new 6800.

Big D5 06-08-2007 10:40 PM

At this point I think I will just keep my 6700 don't get me wrong I will still get a 6800 just not going to get rid of my 6700. I will most likely pay full price the day the 6800 comes out and put my 6700 in a drawer where it might never get used again, but I will sleep better knowing its waiting there just in case I need (miss) it. 8)

CHUFLY29 06-09-2007 12:40 PM

Well, I'll be putting this theory to the test at the end of July, beginning of August. Like some of the people here, my joystick (what a POS) has started to sporadically work and not work. I went into the Verizon store the other day and they said they still had about 3-4 in the swap pool. My 6700 is still covered under the manufactures warranty until end of September, so hopefully I'll be able to trade it for a 6800 :D . (However, I'm not going to hold my breath.. :p)

Torx 06-09-2007 09:38 PM

yea i just decided on buying, if i do, the 6800... keep the 6700 as a backup.. sell my sanyo 5600 probably.. im a stickler for having backups..

Shaska 06-11-2007 12:50 PM

Keep one piece of information in mind, You are entitled to a replacement of equal technology, and if such technology is outdated or un-avalable, Price is then used...

The 6800 will be of equal (slightly better) technology, and roughly the same retail price. Which means you should be allowed to swap out for it should 6700's can not be found...

Dont take a trio either, No wi-fi... Not equal technology...

superman22 06-13-2007 07:44 PM

because of the Qualcom there is going to be a limited number of 6800 available because they supplied the chips for the phone so i dont see that happening and the phone will be realsed later this month

myownminerva 06-13-2007 09:15 PM

Sprint will not replace the device with a 6800 unless you either tell them that you have had numerous, unresolvable issues with the device or you threaten to cacnel and have a rep send you to Retention. This is from internal policy... If you threaten to cancel, they can offer you any device in stock as a "save offer" and the 6800 is released 6/18.

Good luck. Im currently using the 6800 running WM 6.

I just spoke with a tech, he did notate my account that this is my 3rd 6700 and when the 6800 is available I will be eligible for it. I hope this is honored at the time.

Did you speak to one over the phone, or at a retail store? My 6700 was replaced two months ago with a brand new one, and just broke. I'm trying to get the same contact to give me a switch as well

Touche' 07-01-2007 02:39 AM

This is my 3rd 6700, too... They tried to give me a 700wx, but I said no. (This was 1 month ago) Anyway, I asked if they culd replace my 6700 with the Mogul, and they said yes, then noted it on my account. I've talked to all the managers at my local Sprint store, and they all agreed that that was only fair.

So, I've been calling every 5 days to make sure the note is still on my account, and it's all good. Go for it.

I hope it works for you, but wait a while, for me there were 6700 :( in stock at the warehouse so they gave me a NIB 6700. :) Wait a while people till Sprint runs out of 6700, they don't have to give you the Mogul if the 6700 is in stock. 8) I have my Mogul now but I payed full price for it.

groovadelickun 07-01-2007 04:37 PM

Bummer about Sprint still having the 6700 in stock, as my replacement "6700" is suppose to be in tomorrow at my local Sprint store. I was really hoping that it just might turn out to be a 6800.

I can only hope..

Touche' 07-01-2007 06:20 PM

I just went up there today, since the GameStop is just next door. I asked them about this, but they told me that they had none in stock at the store, or in any warehouse. They even called a few other stores around here, but they said they had no way of obtaining a 6700. So, hopefully I'll be using my Mogul within the next few weeks.

-Touche'

Dmunkey 07-02-2007 02:28 AM

Coming from a sprint tech there are about 9000 6700s in the warehouse at the moment. So unless your phone is dead on arrival, and the store is out of 6700s you might be lucky enough to get a 6800. This also depends on the tech at the store. In short getting swapped in to a 6800 is not likley for at least 3 to 5 months. As it stands we can't order 6800s in to replace one if it gets broken. Sorry to burst anyones bubble

sprintmogulfan 07-02-2007 01:29 PM

Got my Mogul via retentions

I did exactly what someone else had mentioned. I still had a year togo on my contract so I called up sprint and told them that I have had problems with my 6700 and wanted to cancel my contract and pay the 200 bucks. I was wisked away to retentions and asked if there was anything they could do to make me stay with sprint. I told the rep that I would stay if I could get a mogul. I wasn't elidgible yet for the upgvrade discount but the rep said that she would give me the 150 off anyway.....ans here I sit typing this post on my Mogul that I paid 399 for......not to bad!

want2tokyo 07-02-2007 03:06 PM

try ecare, i ordered a NIB 6700 and emailed ecare about getting a new 6800 and the CSR sent me a new 6800 and all i had to do was return the 6700. i have discussed with other people and emailing them has been the only way people have been able to get the 6800 for free

Touche' 07-02-2007 07:54 PM

I heard about this 'ecare' on another post, but hadn't really payed attention to it.

What EXACTLY is ecare?
How do I get a hold of them?

Yes, I tried doing a search, but it brought up A LOT of posts, and I went through quite a few of them with no luck.

I got a replacement for my ppc6700, it didn't come with a box or anything but under the refurbishment status it said no data so I guess it was new. I emailed ecare for swap and they said ok. I should be getting sometime this week.

Log in to your Sprint account online (sprintpcs.com/manage) and click the contact us link then select email.

evilecho 07-03-2007 09:10 AM

yes only if u've hand multiply issues w/ the 6700 and have been through more then 4 or 5 replacements. which is what happen to me and i was able to get a 6800 as a replacement on launch day. but i went through cs i don't think lockline has the phone since its still not available in many stores. i would wait till the phone becomes available in stores before trying to get a replacement from lockline.

Touche' 07-03-2007 05:49 PM

Yeah, they screwed me. I've been walking around with a 'broken' 6700 for like 4 months now, because I was told I would get the 6800 as a replacement if I waited it out. Now, they just wanna give me another 6700.

When I talked to the manager who said that he would swap it for the 6800, he said, "Well, I probably shouldn't have told you that. Sorry, but when we get them in we're not going to give you a 6800, sir." I'm gonna go back up there in a few minutes and ask to talk to a regional and/or district manager.
