Goodbye, Mogul, hello Touch Pro!

Pretty much sums it up.
Got the touch pro yesterday, now the Mogul goes on the block.
Yay!

i wouldn't act so quickly. i got the TP saturday; i'm pretty sure that's the phone going on ebay. i'm most likely sticking with the mogul.

I know I have no desire to own the TP after playing with one.

lack of hard buttons. for example, to send a text you have to press the screen at least 3 times and then type your message. with the mogul, zero: hit messaging button, left sofkey (new message), type message, left softkey (send). done. there are no hard OK buttons or softkeys on the touchpro. there are 3 ok buttons and 4 softkeys on the mogul lol.

touchflo3d is just bloatware. the old HTC 3-button home from the kaiser (i think that's where it's from) does everything that TF3D does, but is so much more straightforward. you can't stop the customizations from running on the TP after initial startup (it's so bizarre), so there's an incredible amount of junk on the phone (nobody's unlocked the extrom yet; the file system/registry is significantly different). opera comes preloaded as the default browser, and you can't change that. period. if you try to use IE, opera just opens up as soon as you enter a URL.

sure the mogul is kinda clunky and the TP's screen blows it out of the water, but for me i have a winmo phone for functionality. the mogul can do everything the TP can do, but with a lot fewer frills and gimmicks.

How does the display look? I don't send many text messages. How is the e-mail? I guess you have to type of a virtual keyboard?

Why would you have to do that?? The TP has a hardware KB.

I'm sorry, but that's just not true, lol.

Things the Touch Pro can do that the Mogul can't do:

- Run TONS of apps at a time without bogging down the system.
- Take pictures actually worth saving on your computer.
- Gives you a row with numbers so you don't have to use FN to type them.
- Display at 480x640 resolution.
- Zoom in web pages with a iPod-style "wheel"
- Look pretty. :D

There are more, but those are the biggest differences.

Also there is a button on the keyboard that says "TXT" which will do the same thing as the messaging button, but actually takes you right to text messaging. (no FN key required for this operation either)

I used to have a Mogul, and I was so mad I switched it out for a Touch, but trust me, the TPro is worlds above the Mogul in every way except it has less buttons and doesn't have a scroll wheel (for me, this was my favorite feature of my Mogul).

EDIT: Just thought of a few more:

- No annoying telescoping stylus
- GREAT speakerphone volume and awesome quality on both speaker and earpiece.
- Light sensor for automatic screen brightness adjustment
- TouchFlo 3D. I didn't think it'd be "that" cool, but it really is.
- GPS locks in under 10 seconds INdoors...

Exactly. My boss bought a TP Friday & it's being returned today for all the legit reasons you listed. The TD is more of a gimicky toy than a seroius business device. That is fine if that's what you're looking for, he has other priorities however.

LOL me and WinMo have the same relationship ;)

I'm eligible for a full discount on a new device. I'm also one of those button lovers (wife has the touch, I've played with those button-free devices, and if you're one of those 'one hander using all the buttons to get stuff done' types like me, it takes some getting used to.)

I'll probably end up with the Pro next year (waiting to see if I need a new phone or a shotgun :p) by then all the kinks will be gone and it will be a no brainer.

Still, would rather have android. So, if sprint gets an android phone before then I'll maybe just go with that instead.

Meanwhile, mr mogul is working fine still so I'll hang onto him. He goes so well with my 10 year old beater car. Being debt free sucks.

I read a headline on Digg.com sayin that the sprint CEO said Android isn't good enough to put a sprint brand on it yet... he's salty and we're gunna suffer for it :(
