VZW htc xv6800 wifi problem
 

](*,):angry7:I got this xv6800 from verizon that has a wifi problem. Whenever I turn the wifi on the antenna will show but there is no activity. The wifi or phone will not search or scan for any access point or any available servers. I have tried to connect to my wireless access point by entering all of my info, it only says connectiing but it will not connect. The wifi has worked before, but it has never been able to connect to any network at all. I have tried to fix it but it won't work. I have tried hard reset twice and even installed the new update to windows mobile 6.1 and it hasn't worked. Is there anyone that can help or what else can I do to my wifi on my xv6800 work.

Ive seen issues that ppl have with WiFi after flashing thier phone. When was the last time you flashed your device and did it work after that?

I did not flash it, I got the phone from someone else and I just found out that person did it and he did not tell me. can anyone tell me what can I do to make this thing work or else I will brake into peaces my $200 worth phone.

You just need to reflash with a custom ROM or even an OEM ROM. But first you wanna make sure you back up and save all your contacts/pics/vids/sms/ECT.

You can do that with an app called PIMBackup or ActiveSync.

To make your own custom ROM look here and start at post #4. Its not hard but does require a bit of reading so you understand what you are doing.

Im not sure what a flash is or how to costum my phone what tools I need...is it possible to format the phone and reinstall Windows mobile?if so how...

By that he means this thread here. Read over it a few times so you understand. Flashing is about the same as formatting and HDD and reloading an OS on it. A "kitchen" just helps you make your own OS or in this case a ROM which is your OS for your device.

I take no responsibility for fubaring your phone, but I suffered from the no wifi problem once before too. The attached link will take you to a cab file at xda, which when installed on my titan fixed the wifi issues with not recognizing networks or connecting to networks.

Note, it appeared to brick my phone at first, hanging on the boot screen for several minutes. I pulled the battery for a few minutes and then booted back up normally.

Back up your contacts and such first because this may need a hard reset to get phone to boot, just like every modification we do.

can you give me step by step, I downloaded the wifi fix cab and installed it. I this step twice, one with the wifi switch on and off and it did not work. I did the hard reset because the phone froze at the boot or begibng and screen went black. i tried soft reset and it hasnt worked.

I soft reset after successful install, then pulled battery when it hung, as in my above post. It did not need hard reset, just a battery pull and reboot, as mentioned above. If you install, soft reset and pull battery (if necessary) and it still does not work, it might not be your problem. I was just offering suggestions. Sorry, bro...

I already tried many times intalling that and so far I have no succes, the only thing it does is that it freezes at boot loading. I have done hard reset and it has not work. can you give me steps on how to do it?

Its as easy as any other cab install, just click on the cab, when it confirms it installed, just soft reset. If yours hangs at one of the splashes like mine did, pull the battery, wait 5 minutes, then re-install the battery and boot up as normal. You don't have to hard reset if the device will boot after putting the battery back in.

If you did all those, and it did not help, it may not be the fix for your problem. I am not the author of this cab, so I don't know what it actually does, but it was suggested to me to try, and it worked on my device.

Ok after reading that thread, I think I'm going to flash it back to 6.0 and see if wifi works. Then, if does not work them I'm just going to install the cab and if it doesnt work, then I'm going to upgrade to 6.1 and try wifi and if it doesnt work then I don't know what else to do.

I personally think it is OS/software related and not hardware but there is always that chance.

This does not work on my verizon xv6800, it freezes at boot load and I have to hardreset everytime....is there any one that nows about registry and tell me if I could do something with it or maybe with the wifi driver...

I think the problem with this cab is that it is meant for alltel or bell or sprint and not for my verizon xv6800....

WEll I got a solution for the phone, I'm getting a replacemet and brand new hopefully it works better.
