Youtubeplay error - failed to play -3
 

I love youtube and the youtubeplay application has become almost invaluable to me. Starting today, whenever I try to play a video I get an error; "failed to play: -3". A soft reset as well as reinstalling the application didn't work. Any idea's?

I have the same problem. It started or at least I noticed it yesterday.

The fix didn't work and the YouTube application seems too fancy, it doesnt work properly. FPS is low too. Youtubeplay was simple and effective, I'd like it to work again.

too fancy? dude, its a very easy, user friendly interface. Doesn't work properly? fps too low? mine plays smooth as silk. sorry you're havin troubles.

Maybe I should have used a better choice of words. I meant for example that the interface doesn't rotate when I flip open the keyboard and the FPS is very low for me, it's like watching a slideshow. I will say though that the program looks very nice. I'd just like youtubeplay back, it worked great, was simple and easy to use.

Are you guys on the high quality or fast download setting in the options? oh high quality mine does run slightly choppy. and no it doesn't rotate for me either, i just type what i want and slide it back in. it auto rotates when the vid starts. but it doesn't bother me.

i think this i what the OP was using, and started getting an error. there's always reinstallation! :mrgreen:

Awesome thanks... That patch or whatever that was worked. It did the trick. Now youtubeplay works on my phone again. Yay! Lol

The fix posted by DLM worked for a few days, but now I'm getting an error about being unable to retrieve a Youtube security cookie. I'm guessing that something on Youtube has changed (is changing) and Youtubeplay isn't keeping up.

Same thing here tho.. I thing Youtube is trying to make work only the new Youtube app the one that comes with the Diamond.... The one for the Diamond that i have on my mogul still works fine the only thing is that u need to Make ur own rom or find one that is made by the Kitchen not the one from the company and then it will work the new youtube app.. I think is better if you switch and forget abt the errors

Here is the webpage by someone else that explains how to make ur Roms and also in the process of making ur own Rom it will be an option to add the YouTUbe App (HTC diamond) on your phone...I think this is the easiest way because u still will need to make a custom ROm ... hope it helps... or if you already have the custom Rom look for New Youtube App or for Youtube Diamond Application... Also if you are a Vista User it works on it you dont need to download the first steps that shows because it is already in your system... Note-Dont install the new youtube app if you did not unlock or make a custom rom or made by the Kitchen because it will NOT work

Is this the program you are referring to? It's not exclusive to the Diamond.

Yes thats the program im referring to.. Thats the process you need to do in order to make ur own rom... and once u r making ur own rom there is an option that says to add the Youtube app.. it shows 2 on that program one is called Youtube Play that is the old one the one you have.. and the other one i believe is called Youtube app (for Diamond) it shows like that but just add it to your phone and it will work on it... Also i recommend to update the BuildOS i believe is called the program and download the updates one by one its easier and better because if you check to install alot of updates and it occurs an error it will erase everything and start over and over again..
