Ultimate Launch/HT Home problems with new ROM??
 

I had Ultimate Launch working absolutely perfectly in my Verizon XV6800 setup when it was running the stock radio & ROM.

Now, I flashed to 3.42.5 & dcd 3.2.6 which worked super in most ways (I get a 7 satellite GPS lock in about 4 seconds with all the GPS mods) but UL is giving me all kinds of problems.

I originally had my home screen in UL as the HTC Home plug-in & a bunch of program icons below that. With WM 6.1 etc, I installed the HTC 6 tab Home cab & soft reset, & the phone froze so hard I had to do a hard reset. I tried four times & the same thing happened every time.

At that point, I decided the hell with HTC Home, I will use Battery Status with the HTC Home skin instead. I thought that was working fine. I had BS at the top of the opening screen with program shortcuts under it, a 2nd tab with weather panel full screen & a 3rd tab with more program shortcuts. It looked & worked great until I did a soft reset. As soon as I did that, Battery Status refused to load (it gave an error about BT unable to initialize) & I never got it to work again inside UL.

I messed with UL for hours today & at one point, my system got so messed up from it that I had to hard reset again & then restore a BU I made early today with SPB BU.

I absolutely HATE to give up using UL, I paid for it & spent three weeks learning all the ins & outs of it.

If I could get either some version of HTC Home or Battery Status to work from within UL I would be all set. Does anybody have any advice for me?????

Well, I have done a bunch more testing on this stuff. It didn't help me out much, but I figured I would post the results here as they may help someone else.

No matter what I did, I could not get the HTC Home 6 tab plug-in to work in the new WM 6.1 setup. I did a hard reset & immediately installed the plug-in as the very next step from a .cab file. As soon as I did that, the phone froze solid & has to be hard reset. I tried it more than once with the same result (does anybody know of a different version of HTC Home that might work better??).

I then installed Ultimate Launch which works, but will not load the battery status plug-in that I would like to use instead of HTC Home. Battery Status works fine by itself or with BS & weather panel together as the home screen, but simply will not load from within UL (that same setup worked perfectly with the stock Verizon radio & ROM).

My Home screen now looks like this:

& I think I'm going to leave it that way. I am really getting used to being able to see WP at a glance without switching anything & I have more available program memory than I would with UL running.

The system is running very clean & fast & the GPS works better than my standalone Garmin units (The phone can acquire a lock & start tracking in CoPilot Live 7 while the Garmin is still booting up).

PS: I have two extra XV6800's sitting here & I can produce the exact same results on either one with the new radio & dcd ROM (which I LOVE by the way)

hey bro i had lots of trouble with htc home plugin with the new 6.1 rom also when it 1st came out...i finally got one to work...ill post it here...i put it in another thread awhile back and got much positive feedback...try this one out and let me know how it works for u ok...also thanks to reeg420 for this...

Thanks Bro, I'll try it today.

I can do a hard reset & BU restore with my eyes closed at this point, so even if it doesn't work it's no big deal.

It pisses me off that Battery Status won't work as it looks just like HT Home if you use the correct skin & uses a LOT less memory to run..............

you're my hero..........

not only did that version of HTC Home work perfectly, but (& I can't explain this) it also fixed battery status to work right also.

now, I can use either one from within UL if I decide to. I need to run a bunch of testing now & see how bad these plug-ins kill the available memory in my Titan because I kinda like both of them.............

haha no prob bro...i been around awhile lol...only draw back to this which i forgot to tell ya...is if u go into ur settings/device info...it will show u ur rom version but the date and other stuff wont show up anymore....not sure why it does this using htc home...but its no big deal to me i dont need to see that stuff anyways....lol....

does that HTC Home also fix the weather with the HTC customizer? I've found a lot that work with 6.1 but I couldnt ever find one that let the weather app work..

the weather portion works great for me with this one...i live in indianapolis and it keeps me informed with our weather anytime i click on it...neva had a problem...

Yea, same here although it wasn't completely obvious how to use it at first.

My city is not listed, so I selected the custom data base (instead of the default) & then added it by zipcode & saved it (I think that's how it's done, I am doing this from memory) & it works perfectly.

I don't use it often as I have a Phatphinger WP setup running, but I do occasionally do a quick temp check with it.

so this version of HTC home will work with DCD rom 3.2.6. I had the same proble when i installed a version of HTC home before everything locked up and i had to to a hard rest. I had given up....on looking till I ran across this thread, i will have to try it when i get home from work today. I have a Alltel mogul 6800...i guess that shouldn't matter

One problem, this version of HTC Home works great except it disables the backlight adjustment control. It will hold whatever setting it is at, but after installing HT Home you won't be able to change the setting.

I just recently purchased Ultimate Launch and I love it. I have played with the program for most of this weekend and have 5 tabs working but I can't seem to figure out how to change my icons. I really like the look of your Homescreen in the second post of this thread. Could I ask that you share some info on which icons you used and a walk through on how you make those changes in UL configuration.

UL is an awesome program, but it certainly is not very intuitive (it took me a long time to figure out all the ins & outs).

I'll be glad to walk you through the steps, but I don't have time to itemize it out tonight. I will get back to you sometime tomorrow & list all the steps & give you some tips on UL setup etc.

Just got back home from Orlando. I have continued to play with the UL configuration.
Another problem I am having is changing icons. When I preview an icon it looks fine. When I actually change the icon to the one I selected it posts a generic colored icon (like the one associated with all the icons in the list of icons I have downloaded showing they are .ico) not the one selected. If you can solve this puzzle for me too it would be greatly appreciated!!

Hope you had a better trip than I did (god, I hate the Atlanta airport).

When you go to items/new/select a new item/ make sure you click on XP-icon (32 bit) or it will do that (it took me like a week to figure that out)

I know the feeling, I was going crazy over that one myself.

I really love UL, but it really has a steep learning curve & there's nothing intuitive about it at all.

I mess with it all the time, >> HERE << is what my home screen looks like now & then I have a 2nd tab that is full of program shortcuts. That is a one line version of Weather Panel running on the bottom of the home screen. The little weather icon on the left is animated & when you click on it, WP opens up full screen with animated icons like >> this <<

I have no tabs showing at all.

I don't mean to keep bothering you about this but I still need some help with this program:

1. I am still not able to change an existing icon. When I preview I see the icon when I try to change it is not showing the selected icon.

2. How do you get rid of, or move to the bottom, the box with the small panels for the tabs and corresponding number.

3. Still would like your steps to get your original set-up in your first post on this thread.

4. Is it possible to set-up internet favorites within a tab? If yes, how?

I really like the UL and want to maximize it on my HTC Touch.

A quick update. I solved questions 2, 4 and some what 1. The more I try things the more I discover. It seems selecting the icons when I am setting up a new tab or adding to an existing tab is no problem. I still can't change an existing icon within a tab.

GDI, I just typed out a ten minute response & my POS laptop (it has a bad mem stick I think) gave me a blue screen crash one tenth of a second before I hit the reply button.

I have run WP from a tab in UL & also from within Mobile Shell. I have never had any problem changing the settings, so I don't know what the problem there is.

I have run UL in a tab from mobile shell (I'm doing that right now) & also mobile shell in a tab in UL. Both work just fine although it does eat up a bit of mem in my Titan.
