QPST setting GSM on 1x
 

I was playing around with QPST today and I found this little entry under the RUIM field.

Now I know this won't magically turn my Titan into a GSM quad band compliant phone, but why is this option available in the 1x/HDR Preference Menu?

The term GSM1X refers to technology to provide interoperability between GSM and CDMA2000 1X networks. GSM 1X allows subscribers to use the same handset over both GSM and CDMA2000 1X networks so that GSM subscribers can access wireless data services based on CDMA2000 1X.
GSM 1X puts an interconnection node (also called a gateway) between the GSM and the CDMA network.
