extra letter when typing msgs
 

When I hit "b" and "a" together on the keyboard, the screen displays "bla".

So when I'm trying to type "bad", it displays "blad"

Another example is "b" and "e", it sometimes become "ble" or "bel"

There are a few other too but I forgot.

Anyone know what's giong on?
I'm running the kitchen ROM 5060.

Oh also, it's been doing this as long as I can remember.

there is a cab somewhere to fix this i think or it could be hardware

I fixed this problem by changing the keyboard to touch diamond when in a message and then going to the settings -> personal-> input -> word completion and unclicked the "suggest words when entering a space". It only worked for me after I changed the keyboard input to one of the Touch keyboards although the feature seemed to affect every keyboard mode.

Check out this cab from my ftp folder. It will fix repeats and other keyboard issues on the titan.

Is the file corrupt b/c I got the msg "Installation of titan key fix.cab was unsucessful".

son of a gun!! It won't install somehow.

I downloaded it twice.

Loaded once into the memory card.
Then again onto the main memory.

But still no go. :(

That is really weird. it's working fine on my Titan. Anyone else tried this and have problems?

It didn't work for me, determined to be hardware. I had the Sprint thing, not refering to damage insurance which I also have, that gets me a phone for this kind of thing. I kept my old one until it came, then swapped phones and restored from my backup. It worked perfect.

So it is hardware related?

I should revert back to the original ROM and bring it in, that's what insurance is for. haha

Anyone know how I can find the original sprint rom for titan?

I'd rather solve it without having to bring the phone in.

For those who have had this problem, although it may be a bit of a drastic solution just for this, have you tried flashing another ROM or hard reset? This would help reveal whether it is a hardware or software issue, I'd think...

I have rom version 3.56.651.0 (6/16/08) and it didn't work for me.
I tried to access the cab ftp link directly from my phone and download it.
I'm about to try the other link now...

I downloaded the zip file to my computer, emailed to my device, unzipped and installed on my device with no problem.

Dwizzy130 do you have a document that outlines what is included in the cab?

D'oh. I tried the cab. It installed fine. Soft reset. But still no go.
I guess I"ll try the original ROM
and if all else fails, here comes insurance.

I had this problem too, I have no idea how I fixed it but it won't repeat now. I remember doing l and a and getting lag.

This may be too simplistic, but has anyone tried a screen alignment??? I was having a extra letter problem on my Touch... went into settings/screen... did a realignment on the screen. Problem solved!!

The problem described is with the physical keyboard, not the on-screen one.

try going into your windows folder and look for a file called xT9. tap on it and check everything you don't want.

HA! I cooked ROM 5067 in the kitchen and now the problem is fixed...seems to be faster than 5060 too. sweetness.
