Glyph Cache Change = neg effects!?
Why would changing the HKLM\System\GDI\GLYPHCACHE
limit = 16K ( Dword = 16384 ) to limit = 32K ( Dword = 32768 ) have an adverse effect on my results at dslreports.com/mspeed ? I was under the impression that the glyphcache helped rendering speed at the expense of memory (not hindered rendering speed at the expense of memory). Extra info: CacheSize = 4MB and FilterCacheSize = 8K (ReplStoreCacheSize = 8192). Pretty standard, right? |
Re: Glyph Cache Change = neg effects!?
What adverse effect are you talking about? Slower loading times? Slower down/upload?

Re: Glyph Cache Change = neg effects!?
It's pretty much a blank page in PIE and the result of using a 32K glyphcache is a slowdown in my dslreports reported download speed. With the cache at 16K I can consistently break 1Mbit/sec but the rest of the device slows down.
Basically, large pages (like the full ppcgeeks main page) load quite a bit faster with the glyphcache at 32K but the downlink suffers for some reason. I mean the screen rotates a bit quicker in most programs but I use PIE the most. This doesn't seem like an appropriate trade. Is it the fact that there is more memory utilization so it takes more time to render? I thought glyphcache helllped with that? |
