Memory running low

Is there any way to get more memory out of the 6800? I have plenty of storage space but keep running out of program memory. Is there a way to get programs to run on the MicroSD card? I love this phone but hate how fast the program memory can be eaten up. The biggest problem is that the camera takes up so much memory to run. Any suggestions??

You can get some apps to run on the card and most will work just fine as long as they are not needed all the time or have plugins on the the today screen. IDK about these issues on the 68 but it was a big NO-NO to run apps of the card if they run constantly in the background or are needed as soon as the phone is pulled out of sleep. Ringers and tones were not to be on the card either because of latency issues. Also, get a memory manager that will CLOSE the app and give you back that memory and not just minimize the app and leave it running in the background.

Seems to me you are running apps in the background. Also, you need to clean up your pocket pc just like a regular pc. You need to delete the cookies and history items from any browsers that you are using..
if you send text messages get rid of all old text, and old mms files if you send pictures etc... check out my ppc maintenance tutorial.

Using a task manager it is showing that I have ~ 22MB worth of apps running but my ppc says I have only 4MB of memory left out of 49MB. So where is the rest of the 27MB of memory at???

The Operating System is hogging the rest.

And seriously, normal WM6/6.1 eats a LOT of ram, for a device with 64MB its not at all unusual to have 18-22MB free right after a reset, with it dropping to 15-18MB free after a day or so, with all apps closed but all of the various drivers loaded and buffers allocated.

Thats why devices with 128MB ram run so much better ;)

After resetting I still only have 4-5MB of program memory. What is eating up all of the memory? Storage shows I have 73MB available. I don't get it. Like I said, task manager has 23MB of apps running.

Storage and memory are two different things. 4-5MB free on boot? Yeah, somethings wrong. Try turning off all of your home plugins and temporarily remove any items from the \windows\startup folder. See where your at then.
You may also want to check out dotFred Task Manager. Lets you see a whole lot more :)

Also, as a side note, I noticed that filesys.exe slowly consumes more memory as it runs. I assume this must be caching file information and such. I have yet to find a way to "free" any RAM from it, including Oxios Hibernate (which I highly recommend for those RAM concious Titan owners).

Whoooo eeeee!!! Is that after a soft-reset? If so, you've got some cleaning to do. The Titan doesn't have the RAM for all that (shakes fist at HTC for only putting 64MB in this phone). First off, get rid of Slide2Unluck2. It's a memory hog. Use DeviceUnlock instead. I know it's not as pretty, but it gets the job done.

I also don't use the VoiceCommander (voicecmd.exe). If you don't use it, remove it from the startup folder.

I assume that MobileShell .exe is SPB mobile shell. If so, it's going to comsume some of the RAM and you won't be able to get around that.

I am not sure what MediaHubMini.exe, PCommLoader, PhoneServices, QuickDial and udp2tcp.exe are for, but try and figure it out. If you dont use em, get rid of em :)

Let me show you what my phone looks like on soft reset...

Nooo never get rid of s2u2! These days it's only 3/4 of a meg, unless you use a huge animated gif...

But yeah, seriously, this is the worst case of downloaditis I have ever seen. Time to scale back. Waaaay back. Or, upgrade to a phone with 128mb ram. Because this dog ain't never gonna hunt carrying all that on his back.

Dunno why I slipped into Wilford Brimley mode there...

But in his case it's almost 2MB! (when I have only 25MB after a soft reset, thats 8% of my RAM) For me, when I used the default picture it was still 1MB. DeviceUnlock uses 0! (I cannot find any footprint of it in memory when using the phone, there probably is SOMEWHERE, but I sure can't find it. The exe is ONLY 18KB, so If there is a foot print, it can't be much larger than that.)

We can only WISH there was an easy way to do that with this phone....
