XV6800 Upgrade sequence

Thank you to all who have helped me in this forum so far.
I wrote this today and it worked. I've been out of luck since Wed but I don't give up.

STEP ZERO (most who get to this post have done this much)
Download WMDC or ActiveSync depending on your OS version.
XP needs ActiveSync 4.5
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Vista needs WMDC
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Connect your phone via USB to your computer.
Download Titan Unlocker and extract this into a folder.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=9093
Run Titanunlocker.bat (if 64 bit, edit the batch file or ignore the sleep4.exe errors)
It may prompt you on your device to run jumpspl.exe, say yes.
You will then see red green blue white screen with Spl 2.40.Olipro
Disconnect USB, then reconnect USB
Hit Enter and follow the RUU prompts on the screen
This replaces your Stock Boot loader to the SPL 2.40.Olipro version and unlocks your phone.
Click Finish.
STEP TWO
In the Hard SPL directory find this file, Hard_MFG_SPL_2.40_RUU_signed.nbh. rename or move it.
I just add a .DONE extension so the RUU won’t find it.
Extract this radio, Titan_radio_rom_3.42.40.zip and place the TITAIMG.nbh in the Hard SPL directory.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...om_3.42.40.zip
Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the same HardSPL directory, following the prompts until it says Finish.
This updates your radio on your phone
STEP THREE
Then I run this custom packs, pick your own or make your own, it’s up to you.
dcd_titan_3.2.5.exe- under the ROM section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413039
Click Finish
Windows Mobile 6.1 is now on your device
Align the screen, customizations will run and reboot your device.
STEP FOUR
Execute this fix dcd Verizon Carrier 20080719.cab (and not 100% sure on this fix, Titan_Key.cab, but I do it anyway)
http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/carriers/
http://utstar.com/pcd/downloads/XV68...x%201-9-08.zip

STEP 5
(This is paranoia, unplug from USB and do a soft reset, prob not required)
STEP 6
*22899 (does *228 option 1 and 2 at the same time)
You will see SPL Unlocked
Then Programming in Progress
PRL download is complete
NAM download is Complete
MDN download is Complete
Programming is Complete
Programming is Successful and it will reset your phone
If you’re A Key Survives, you are golden, if not, then 18009220204 for Verizon Support or if you have a second Verizon phone, you can log on to the website, click on your existing phone, click on Activate a Phone.
Type in your old phone ESN, wait 10 min, *22899, it should soft reset, then go browse website. Go back to the website, do the same thing with your ESN on the phone you updated, wait 10 min, *22899, it should soft reset. You may need to type in yournumber@vzw3g.com and vzw as the password, but you should be back in biz.

I've had my Verizon XV6800 for about a week - first WM phone for me, and this post is just what the doctor ordered. I need to continue reading and researching for a week or two more before I try this, but I've bookmarked this thread to use as my guide. Many thanks!

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

It's not that hard with a little reading. If your on Verizon, I am sure you read about needing an AKEY after flashing with a GPS rom. I will tell you if you use the newer .50 rom, I didn't need to call for an Akey, it just worked as it should

It probably would be easier to do this before activating the phone. As long as you follow the steps above, you wont "eff" it up. Once you get the bootloader successfully installed it is actually very difficult to eff it up. Just keep a <2GB SD Micro non-SDHC card around just in case (allows you to flash Radio and OS ROMS without activesync, just in case you do muck something up) ;)

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

hmm, ok i just followed this and now i'm stuck at the 4 color screen. i was only able to make it to step 2. it says
TITANA100 MFG
SPL-2.40 Olipro
CPLD-9

soft reset, remove battery, and running trying to flash it back by usb to the stock verizon has no effect. after the verizon reflash Olipro still shows.
any hints?

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

Keep in mind that when you are going to flash the BL to 2.4 you need to also be prepared to change the radio and ROM as well. Dont start and stop like I did or you will have issues. But now it sounds like you are stick in BL mode right?

Well this isnt too hard. Go into ActiveSync and disable USB. The go into C:\ttn240mfg and click on titan_exitbl.exe and this should kick you out of BL mode. Once you are out remember to go back into AS and re-enable USB so you can sync later.

Now mind you when I did mine just like this and didnt load a new radio/ROM, whenever the device would go to sleep it would not wake up and I would miss calls/txt. After flashing to a radio/ROM the issue was resolved. Good luck

Rangerdave 08-23-2008 02:34 AM

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

called verizon, went through pretty much everything and they said to bring it in for an exchange....well thats not going to happen just yet. i think i may have flashed the wrong radio rom. any indications other than this, that might be the issue?

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

This might sound stupid but if you unlocked the phone how do you get it to be locked again? Wont unlocking the phone interrupt services?

I have a more extensive tutorial in my signature. You may want to check it out. If the phone says unable to authenticate when you make a phone call just follw the instructions in my tutorial for calling VZW for an AKey.

Medic-big thanks. this thread and your thread have been bookmarked for a while getting my self primed. this thread should be called the novice (get your feet wet. the thread in your sig should be advanced, something of the sort.
my issue was radio rom 3.35.04.
somewhere i got a file crossways and found my issue but not after a few hours.
mind you this was my second phone to flash so i know i did it right once. just had to duplicate it.
once i followed the restore thread for verizon, i started from scratch and got it done in about 15 minutes.

3.35.04 dorks with the cell reception on this verizon phone.
might be worth a note somewhere.

Thanks again.!

Okay, I'm missing something very simple here. How do I execute Step 4? I have the Verizon Carrier Cab, but am unclear on how to apply it.

Thank you!

weedahoe 08-24-2008 08:16 AM

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

I assume since it is a CAB file that you would DL it and transfer it to your device and then click on it to run it. Honestly, I didnt do that but then again Im not running DCDs ROM due to I cooked my own so that may be why I am fine without it.

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

Pretty odd issue here, I cant update the radio.
I'm trying to go to radio 3.42.40 as I'm on verizon and the gos is shot for the moment and I remember that radio worked good with a cooked rom.

I follow the steps and get into the bootloader to run the radio update, emane the file, move the radio file and run the update.
Then after right at 8% it fails. I have tried this on 2 pc's some 8 times all with the same results.

"This update utility cannot be used with your phone"

There is a little string of digits at the bottom left "UI2" if that means anything.

I cant make out what I'm doing wrong.

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

Download radio. Rename to correct Tit____.nbh I always forget the name. Put on SD card. Then put phone in bootloader.

1 Attachment(s)
I suggest you get one because a sd card eliminates many problems. Maybe use a different updater. Attached in one I have used.

Radio version 3.37.78
I think thats the verizon stock radio from mr1 and mr2.

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

Is the phone unlocked with 2.4 or 2.47. Because I think it needs to be to upgrade with a stock rom. Assuming you have a stock rom.

Don't forget the thanks button

Ok maybe I missed a step here...
My tricolor screen says TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40 Olipro
CPLD-9

That should be right, I thought it was?

The rom is dcd 3.2.5 for the moment till I get my radio where I know it worked "better".

Are you saying I need to go to mr1 then flash the radio?

Ok I got a new sd card, did the format to it put the file , remaned it and put it in the phone. When I get it back to bootloader it flashes a grey screen for about a second then goes back to the bootloader. This thing is kicking my *** here..

Ahh I finally saw a small sight of the message. "No image file"??

This is pretty wierd.

I also got an 8gig card while I was there. 30 bucks, not bad.

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

Did you format the sd card itself? Also was the file this name exactly including caps in name and not in extension. TITAIMG.nbh

I am really sure i'm doing this how it should happen.
I did format the card, I have checked the renaming some 10 times.

Sheese if I could only get the radio right I'd flash a new rom....

Just so you know your radio is fine for any gps rom. It may not be the best but it will work.

Re: XV6800 Upgrade sequence

OK I got it.. ARGHHHH

It had something to do with olipro and nuespl. I dont exactly know what but I had to revert to fully loading everything from the sd card.
This phone is a refurb from verizon if that matters any.

I finally was able to get the radio to load from the sd card the4 hard way/or easy way..whatever. the radio I remember worked the best.

Now we see from here.

Thanks have been given

RD
