Clock update from cell towers - and weather?

Traveling with my XV6800 for the first time and I got used to my old phone automatically updating it's clock when I traveled to a new time zone (I assume it updates from the towers). I was surprised this phone didn't.

Is there a registry hack (or app) for this? I searched for "clock update" and a few other things but didn't find.

It would also be nice if my phone could give me the local weather based on what tower I connect to.
Anyone know of anything like that?

Thanks in advance.

I think it does. What does Phone->Menu->Settings->Services->Time Synchronization indicate?

It depends on the carrier and the rom. The sprint stock rom will update time based on location, but others do not.

Ahh, which begs the question, "If I have a xv6800, and I want to automatically detect timezones, is there a ROM I can flash that will?"
