Icons w/o HTC Home?
 

Is it possible to install/use custom icons without using HTC customizer?

I have searched for this and found nothing. I have tried placing icons in several folders but they don't appear when I try to change the icons. I'd like to have icons that are all the same size but I don't need another RAM drain by running another app, and I don't need that big clock on the today screen.

Anyone able to do this? I am using spb pocket plus if that helps.

I figure there has to be a way to do this.

You can look at Throttle launcher and ultimatelaunch.

I was hoping to not add another app - is it necessary?

Can you clarify, are you using HTC Home and you don't want HHC on there as well? Or you don't want HTC Home at all? If you just don't want HHC on top of it, that program only runs when you run it, after you make your changes and it restarts HTC Home for you it isn't running anymore. I believe you can even uninstall HHC after you set it up the way you want, if you just don't want it left on your phone at all.

I'm not using either one. If I can run them, change the icons and then close them out so they won't suck RAM then it would be OK. Is this the case? I like and am using spb pocket plus. I just want to make my icons a uniform size without running additional apps in the background.
