Opera Mobile and Memory

I've been testing different versions of Opera mobile on my xv6800.

I often get a message indicating that "out of memory - close a tab"

I only have 1 tab open, so the application crashes.

Any tips or tricks to use Opera to browse graphic-intense pages? example: www.movie.com

I've tried Opera Mobile and IMO it doesn't hold a candle to Opera Mini, give that app a shot, it is by far the best mobile web browser out there.

I definitely concurr with Gulanowski. I had the exact same issue. Uninstalled Opera Mobile, and now use opera mini. Totally different experience.

Good luck.

I have been testing opera mini as well. I personally don't like it as much as opera mobile.

This is a documented issue with the latest Opera Mobile 9.5 beta. There is a workaround available on the Opera Mobile forums, but it seems to be more trouble than its worth. Try Netfront 3.5 - at this stage, it's a much better browser.

I too have experienced out of memory issue on mogul after a reset with no other programs running. Very frustrating.

Other than multible tabs what are the supposed advantages of mobile 9.5 over mini 4.1?

To me the browser expeience seems almost identical.

Re: Opera Mobile and Memory

opera mobile is actually 100000% better from a browser perspective. Opera mini doesn't actually let you surf the web, what it does is render a page on their servers and send you a snapshot. a prime example is go to a page with a timer on it. on opera mini the timer is frozen while in opera mobile it ticks. meaning the phone is actually processing the page, its actually the fact that we have such little ammounts of memory on our phone that is the problem. but if your going to static pages, opera mini will perform just as good visually and much faster, so it all depends on how dynamic your needs are. once the touch pro comes out, what I am talking about will become much clearer.
