High Memory Usage

I must first admit that I am Sprint Indirect dealer, because I had a customer come in to my store with a Mogul running stock config, that was using approx 85%-90% memory used. There were no unusual programs or other "typical" reasons for the high usage. The only thing different from mine was the fact that I have the 6.1 beta still (as opposed to his 6.0) and the fact that he was on his company's Exchange Server. Any advice as to how to reduce his memory consumption?

Sounds like hard reset time.

cripes, I boot with about 60% memory used. I run the stock 6.1 Spring ROM but without customizations. One thing you could possibly do is check the /Windows/StartUp folder to see what unnecessary programs are booting with the phone that you could possibly delete. The only thing in my StartUp folder is poutlook

The first thing I did when consulting with the customer was use the Task Manager to remove all open programs. That brought memory usage down to about 85%. I saw only 1 additional program, which was Astraware's "Fireworks" game, but nothing that could explain why he was running so "hot", unless it was the Exchange connection.

Darkjedi, you mean the "Today" folder? I reduced that down to minimum also.

Re: High Memory Usage

Is that the usage after a soft reset? The windows task manager won't see any "phone" apps still resident. Think the app is cprog.exe. The OS leaves one instance behind after each call. PITA. 'till it's fixed, or someone comes up with a handy workaround to automatically close them, I usually go in and 'end task' every few calls, using itask.

Icano's task manager? Someone will have to help me with the name...

Re: High Memory Usage

I find that the instances tend to correlate to different aspects of the phone program; call history, the dialpad, and the quick dials are examples of three different "phone" instances which can be closed. As far as I know they don't take up that much memory, but since the Mogul has such ****ty memory, well...

Re: High Memory Usage

Possibly software that is not releasing the memory or just wm 6.0 itself. I noticed that wm6.1 has better memory management over 6.0. I'm almost consistently having 17mb or higher on wm6.1. However with 6.0 I was always down to 10mb even when I close all running programs. Maybe update his to 6.1 and see what happens.

Re: High Memory Usage

I am not sure if you found your solution, but I find that Oxios Closeapps and Hibernate help out a ton for releasing the memory used up by programs that leak as the unit is running until reset. Its free and sends commands out to force the ghost memory eaters to release the memory. Pardon the loose terms.
