Auto-Roam?

I just noticed while taking a call, that when I am roaming at my parent's house, I get a MUCH better signal then on the home network. However, everywhere else, I get a better signal on home. Is there any way to get the phone to determine which gives a better signal, and go with it automatically? I don't really like the idea of manually changing it, because I am very forgetful. Just curious, I'd like to be able to receive calls at my parent's house.

when you go in to change it there should be an option that says automatic

Right, but that setting generally always uses home, unless there is no signal at all, then it will kick to roam. I would like it to go to whichever has the best signal, even when both are present.

He is correct. Automatic just defaults back to a roaming signal when needed.

To be honest, I have never seen anything that would do it automatically. I used to set a profile to roam only when I had this problem with my 6700. I can't recall what I used to set it, I want to say HTC home, but I don't know. Anyway, the phone will always take a weak Sprint signal over a strong roam. I guess it is just how the PRL is designed. Probably be a TON of roaming and switching going on if the phone could take the best signal, might actually deter functionality.

You might want to consider using QPST and make your own PRL

It's somewhat difficult, and illegal I believe, but there's no way for your carrier to know as long as you change the PRL back before taking it into the store.

If you use google, you should be able to find the program and a guide teaching you how to do what you're looking for ;)

I have the same problem. There has to be a way to do it. I know they don't want us to do it because roaming charges could go through the roof. It wasn't included as per sprint tech because verizon is taking away towers and cutting sprints partnership in some areas.

I like the idea of having a quick toggle between home and roam, that doesn't involve going into the settings. Does HTC home have this feature? I've never played with it myself. Also, would changing between home and roam require a soft reset?

I used mortscript to automate switching between always roaming and automatic. I haven't used them in quite some time and they will most likely need to be tweaked to fit your phone. Hopefully someone has something a little more efficient than this cheesy hack, but it's easier than doing it manually every day.

And changing it doesn't require a soft reset
