Yes, that is similar to what I did when I had my Apache. I created a ringer that consisted of silence and used that a custom tone. Worked like a charm.

Sorry to bump this old one, but:

When I Edit the contact, and look at the Ringtone dropdown, there is a choice for <None> but that doesn't seem to do anything. The number still shows up and rings as usual. What am I doing wrong?
