The easiest way to trim mp3's from your phone is to use HTC mp3 trimmer. It works on most ppc's with qvga screen's. It allows you to pick the starting point and ending point. It's simple to use and its free. Here is the one i use, which has the diamond theme. Also i hav e a folder on my storage card labeled My Ringtones, which my touch finds them without storing them on my device. Saves alot of memory.

Uhh...all you have to do is use HTC Audio Player. It has a trim feature built into it.

Yes i know that, but i prefer the window media over the audio manger. They were just refering to trimming mp3's. But you are correct the audio manager has the trimmer built in to it.

Open the trimmer program. Click open the bottom left. It will give a list of folders. Find the folder that contains your Music, wether on your device or storage card. Once you have found that folder then select what song you want to trim. It will take u back to the trimmer screen. Now just pick which starting point and stopping point you want in the song. After you play it for a while it will be easy.

I use an application called 'Call Suprise' - found it over in the XDA forums. You need to have CF 3.5 .net installed, but then you can specify a folder that has MP3's (On phone or Storage Card) and it will randomly select an MP3 and play it when you receive a call.

I just can't stand the 'same 10 ringers' for the 'same 10 people' who call me. This way its almost always a surprise!

First install CFv3.5 and reboot the phone. You may have to edit the registry to have it utilize the new 3.5 vs. the older 2.??

To use, install and run the application (Programs is where it installs to)

I selected 'Randomize Ringtones'

When entering the folder structure (it won't parse into folders, you have to add each folder) entering like: \storage card\directory\rock\

You don't have to change any setting in the ringers - it automatically changes the ringer the next time someone calls!

This is probably not the right thread to post this question but I'll ask anyway. Does anybody know a way to make ringtones work for text messages too? Meaning, if I have a specific song play for a specific person that song will play whether they call OR text me.

I'll also put my bid & support in here for Audicity. Yes, MP3 trimmer, Audio manager and others, already allow you to do this on the phone... sometimes that's not always a virtue. Having a larger screen to see the graphs is often helpful. And unlike the phone apps, Audacity (and most other PC audio editors) will allow you to taper the ends of your sound effect, ie: fade-in, fade-out. Makes for cleaner ringtones.

Can U set random ringtone to contacts U don't really care about and set a specific ringtone to any other contacts? Coz ringtones are set to a person to act like a caller ID. Once U hear a specific ringtone for a person, U know exactly who is calling even before U touch the phone.
