Can't get out of SPL-2.07 Bootloader Screen

Alright, here's the deal:

I bought a used Alltel WM5.0 HTC PPC6800. I registered my ESN with Alltel, and when the phone registered and rebooted, it got stuck in the bootloader screen. I believe it said something along the lines of SPL-1.4x.

Anyway, I didn't quite know what to do, but wanted to upgrade to WM6.0 anyway from Alltel's website link through HTC... So I installed that ROM. It was stuck in bootloader, so I reset it. Then WM seemed to boot and it loaded the Alltel custom apps/etc. Then it reset and was stuck in bootloader again with the following display:

TITA100
SPL-2.07.0000
CPLD-9

I upgraded using RUU_TITAN_ALLTEL_WWE_3.35.671.9_RS_TITAN_03.37.20_ Alltel_2.01_AM_PPST_Ship.exe

I've tried re-flashing and no-go. I tried the titan_exitbl.exe program, and it just resets the device back to the bootloader screen.

If I try loading the older RUU_TITAN_ALLTEL_WWE_2.14.671.3_1.40.00_Altel_0816 _NV132_Ship.exe ROM, I get an error message, "INVALID COMMAND".

What the heck can I do to fix this situation? Many thanks!

try flashing a diffrent bootloader not sure if it will help you but just my opinion cause if you flashed the rom and it all went trough then somethings wrong if it went back to boot loader and one question why would a 6800 have wm5

The first release of the 6800 from Alltel had WM5.

I'll try to upgrade the bootloader... but so far they all seem to need an activesync connection. Can't do that if I can't get out of the bootloader screen... or is there another bootloader I can use that will flash directly without needing activesync?

That requires an activesync connection...

I really have no clue how to fix this issue. I think the thing may be bricked. Stupid 2.07 stock bootloader! I hate you!

Re: Can't get out of SPL-2.07 Bootloader Screen

But that's the whole problem! The damn thing won't leave the bootloader even AFTER a ROM is loaded!

I can't load an older ROM because the bootloader is 2.07. I can't run a newer ROM because the bootloader is 2.07. I wish there was some way I could just wipe the whole damn thing and reset it back to an earlier bootloader, but apparently this is not possible.

This is why I think it is bricked.

Another thing I noticed is that when I try to load the only ROM that works (the latest one available from HTC for Alltel), the first time it started at 1%... now it starts at 12% whenever I re-load the ROM.
