I just upgrade my mogul to the sprint 6.1 rom and radio. Now it doesnt give me the option to select SPRINT PCS or PHONE AS MODEM. i used to use SPRINT PCS and it will connect and i use thether with the usb cord. I can still thether using the usb cord however just wanted to konw if i will be charged for doing so? I use about 3GB per month.
I was reading about doing some registry edit, but not sure where to find that information again.
Any help?

i just use the Internet Sharing Connection that is built in. Been using it for a few months here and there....nowhere near 3gb though with no extra charges. I have the SERO plan w/unlimited data.

Nitrous,

Edit the registry on the Mogul as follows:

HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings

Change ForceCellConnection from Phone As Modem to Sprint PCS.

You dont have to do that... a guy from sprint gave me this cab.. all you have to do is intall it and it fix the problem

I ran the cab and now the connect button is dead.

Everything else seems the same.

Does it make a difference if you run the .cab from the sd card or not?

I had the same issue on the touch. It killed the connect button and there is no way to unistall the cab file. What is in the cab? so that I can reverse the changes?

well in that case, backup those 1500 contacts and then...

find a really high tower and then go all the way up to the roof and toss the phone into the Eye of Sauron :D

Here is the question..... i have the internet sharing fix... But how can I stop being charged or does the fix stop the charges ...

it should stop any additional charges for tethering, you still need a data plan ;-)

OK let me get this straight... I have the 99 dollar unlimited plan... Does this mean that i will not be charged for using this since I am on this plan , or do I still need another data plan? I used the internet fix cab and it is working fine... I just wanted to know if I am going to be charged... Again Thanks for all of the input!

you should not be charged. your plan includes data, just not tethering...
repeat: you should not be charged - of course, check your bill anyway ;-)

Thanks a million. OK... . Incidentlly I saw in this post that someone mentioned to change the registry... How is this done or better yet what steps are needed to go into the registry and make this change?

I have been using the internet sharing application since owning a 6700. I now have a 6800. 3 can connect, stay connected for a variable amount of time, and then get dumped off. Literally, the app disconnects. I can press the connect button after unplugging the cord. Then, the process repeats. And, yes, I actually pay sprint for the unlimited phone as modem plan. I am using the Kitchen ROM. Is anyone having better luck with a stock Sprint ROM or DCD's?

I just got this a few days ago. Never thought to try it without buying into the PAM plan although the guy fixed it to where I "only" pay 15-20 more a month. Think I got gipped?

I edited the registry but still was unable to connect but this cab fix got me back on track. Definitely made my day. Thanks.

Ok now how do I connect after I install cab? I went to internet sharing and all I see is USB and Bluetooth PAN. Do I just leave it on USB and press connect and then hook up the USB cord from my laptop to the phone?

I have wireless connected on my laptop as well, do I need to do any adjustments to my network?

For those of you that want to uninstall the fix, I took my factory settings and put them into a text file. If you do what they say, it should reverse the settings back to normal.

Brand new HTC Mogul. Updated to Windows 6.1. I get to HKLM\Comm\ConnectionSharing and there is no Settings. Instead I get :3 folders---Addresses,Driver,InternalExposed----9 files+Add value+,DisabledOnBoot,EnableAddressTranslation,Ena bleDhcpAllocator,EnableDnsProxy,EnablePacketFilter ing,PrivateInterface,Plubicinterface,SetLastDhcpAd drToIEH. I just switched over to Sprint from Att. I had a HTC 3125 and was able to teather with ATT (no hacks needed) for the last 5 years. I was told by Sprint that I would be able to do this if I bought this mogul and a Everything Plan. I did and cannot. Any help would be appericated..I dont like to be lied to now Im stuck for two years...

for those of you got killed the connect buttom i goin to edit my registry and found the forcecellconnection to sprint and just add pcs and now works like a charm.i hope this helps to some body else.thanks.

So which of the two should I use, I have yet to manually edit the reg and very hesitant to do so since I use my TP2 mostly for business and cannot afford to loose communication. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all,

The cab does not work well, and the registry hack above only is part of the story. I compiled a noob proof how to for this issue. I had hacked this phone previously but forgot how to do it. Just got a referb' replacement to my water-damaged one. So I had to re-research. After hours of piecing together what to do from other forum posts and tinckering, I finally rediscovered it. Try WMWiFiRouter.

WMWiFiRouter v0.91 is a freeware (beta) version without some features that works on the Mogul if you don't wish to buy the full version.
